Ebor Festival Betting Tips - Ebor Festival Day 3 Betting Tips

It's day three at York's Ebor Festival on Friday and they've got the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes taking centre stage, with able support from the Lonsdale Cup as mighty stayer Stradivarius goes for another win. They race at York from 1.50pm-5.20pm on Friday afternoon and we've got race-by-race analysis for all the Knavesmire action once again.

1.50pm - Sky Bet Handicap (Heritage Handicap, 1m4f)

A tough starting place with this competitive handicap. Charging Thunder is in fine fettle for trainer David O'Meara and should go well again with Ryan Moore booked to ride, while Chester winner Cormier isn't dismissed despite going up 8lb. FARHAN was progressive at three, ending his term with a November Handicap win at Doncaster. John Butler's colt shaped well on comeback at Kempton in April before a below-par run at Hamilton next start. He's been off since, goes well fresh and has a rider in excellent form here in Neil Callan. He can rebound.

Selection: Farhan

2.25pm - Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes (Group 2, 2m½f)

The ground conditions are likely to determine the participation of Trueshan, with Alan King suggesting plenty of rain is required. Whether he runs or not, he was beaten fair and squad behind STRADIVARIUS in the Goodwood Cup, the selection perhaps an unlucky second there behind rising star and Ascot Gold Cup winner Kyprios. A fourth Lonsdale Cup may await John & Thady Gosden's veteran champion.

Selection: Stradivarius

3.00pm - Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2, 6f)

Noble Style (Charlie Appleby) and Marshman (Karl Burke) are very promising unbeaten contenders with scope for improvement meeting this rise in class, but the manner in which ROYAL SCOTSMAN followed up a fine third in what was a good Coventry Stakes at Ascot in June by justifying strong market support to win last month's Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in stylish fashion, bodes very well for Paul and Oliver Cole's charge. He looks a potential Group 1 performer and can defy his penalty.

Selection: Royal Scotsman

3.35pm - Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1, 5f)

Possibly not a vintage Nunthorpe. Last year's winner Winter Power has major questions on this year's form, leaving the third from 2021, Dragon Symbol, as one of the possible outsiders of note after a win last time at Hamilton to lift his confidence. Unbeaten Royal Acclaim has C&D form but is facing her toughest challenge and perhaps THE PLATINUM QUEEN will take full advantage of her age/sex allowances to emulate Kingsgate Native and become the second 2YO Nunthorpe winner this century under Hollie Doyle for trainer Richard Fahey.

Selection: The Platinum Queen

4.10pm - Assured Data Protection EBF Fillies' Handicap (Heritage Handicap, 1m2½f)

AMANZOE, winner of her last three starts, still looks to be progressing on foot of her Shergar Cup win at Ascot last time where she came through the pack in ready fashion. This mark is within her reach for trainer William Haggas with Tom Marquand back on board. Croachill and Shampion – both for Roger Varian – are very lightly-raced and open to doing better.

Selection: Amanzoe

4.45pm - British Stallion Studs EBF Convivial Maiden Stakes (7f)

Always a strong maiden this, with any moves for newcomers worth noting. Aidan O'Brien's Salt Lake City is a son of Galileo likely capable of improving sharply on his recent Curragh debut, but DESERT ORDER sets a good standard. He was third in what has proven to be a warm Newmarket contest on debut and went a spot better since at Sandown behind a smart rival – the pair having drawn right away from their rivals. He can make it 3-2-1 for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin.

Selection: Desert Order

5.20pm - Sky Bet Mile Handicap (1m)

Golden Voice is very consistent for the Haggas/Marquand team, with figures of 12112 this term, and should go well again, while Operating is progressing well for last year's winning trainer/jockey combo of the Gosdens and Ryan Moore. Recent Redcar winner POINT LYNAS is a frontrunner unlikely to bow out easily and offers some value at the prices.

Selection: Point Lynas

York Races FAQs

York RaceCourse Guides

The Knavesmire track at York is one of the oldest courses in the UK. Having held racing since 1730, it's a must for every racing fan to visit.

Featuring only one course, it's a left-handed track and can host races up to a distance of two miles and six furlongs. However, the feature races tend to start at the one-mile two-furlong post.

What to look for when selecting a runner at York is one who can often come late in a race. However, there should be no difference for runners no matter the stall number as it's quite a flat course, which is also wide, meaning there should be congestion at the turns.

Often, runners will take to the middle of the course for better ground, especially if the conditions are testing, as this could mean a more difficult race.
