Newmarket July Festival Betting Preview

The top-class racing just keeps on coming, and this time we're off to the July Course at Newmarket for the Moet & Chandon July Festival. With three days of racing to look forward to, punters will have the chance to see runners take to the track in the Darley July Cup and the Falmouth Stakes.

Held annually in July, the meeting is the perfect opportunity for many Group One runners to hit the course before Goodwood later in the month, or before they head back to Ascot for the world-renowned King George VI Stakes.

As we look at the big races involved each day, we've selected the horses that have the chance to fly past the post first in the Group One races, so you'll always be in the know come race day.

Bet on the Newmarket July Festival## Day Three Betting Tips

Nap of the Day

Royal Fleet @ 6/4 - 2:40 Newmarket

It’s all about Godolphin and Charlie Appleby when we look at our nap of the day in the form of Royal Fleet. Currently the market leader, it’s been 81 days since his last run at Yarmouth, where he faced much easier opposition and comfortably won. He’s reduced down in distance slightly for this handicap, and even though he’s almost top weight, he should have the class to see off his opponents here.

Dark Horse of the Day

Ametist @ 6/1 - 3:50 Newmarket

William Haggas is a trainer that looks to perform at the big meetings, and our dark horse of the day comes from his stable in the form of Ametist. A victor in his last four races, two of them coming on this course, he’s certainly one of the runners to watch in this contest. He’s a 6/1 chance in the market, it’s only been 16 days since his last run, but we think the four-year-old has the ability to cement his form once again here.

Longshot of the Day

Mot and the Messer @ 12/1 - 3:15 Newmarket

For our longshot of the day, we’re heading to the Superlative Stakes in the form of Mot and the Messer. Trained by Tom Dascombe, it’s been 23 days since his last run, a victory at Ripon. It’s worth noting that he is stepping up in class here at Newmarket and is also stepping up in distance, but we think he has the chance to see off the big guns in this race.

Day Two Betting Tips

Nap of the Day

Alcohol Free @ 7/2 - 3:35 Newmarket (Falmouth Stakes)

The highlight race on Gentleman's Day at Newmarket is the Falmouth Stakes, and it's here we've selected our top bet of the day. Alcohol Free was the surprise winner for many in the Coronation Stakes at Ascot, given it was a step up in class for the filly. Still, she ran well and picked up a comfortable victory that day ahead of rival Snow Lantern, who is looking to avenge defeat here. That said, we're backing the Andrew Balding filly to add another win to her tally here.

Dark Horse of the Day

Desert Dreamer @ 15/2 - 2:25 Newmarket (Duchess of Cambridge Stakes)

It's another Royal Ascot runner that we think can do the business in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, as Desert Dreamer looks to add another win to her tally for Stuart Williams. Starting the season well, the two-year-old has two victories to her name at Newmarket, so her course experience could prove crucial for a win once again.

Longshot of the Day

King Frankel @ 7/1 - 1:50 Newmarket

Sired by the famous Frankel, this three-year-old certainly has a lot to live up to, especially if he's looking to emulate his father's career. He's taken some steps towards that already, with solid performances at Royal Ascot and Epsom under his belt. Even though it's only 20 days since his last run, we think he's got a strong chance here for trainer Mark Johnson.

Day One Betting Tips

Nap of the Day

Al Aasy @ 4/6 - 3:35 Newmarket

The Princess of Wales’s Tattersalls Stakes is the feature race on Ladies Day at Newmarket. It’s here we’ve chosen our Nap of the Day in the form of the much improved Al Aasy. A winner at this meeting in 2020, picking up the Bahrain trophy, he has started this season strongly with a second-place finish in the Coronation Cup at Epsom. Back on the track after a 34-day absence, we think it’ll take a strong performance from the remainder of the field to usurp him here.

Dark Horse of the Day

Boomshalaa @ 6/1 - 3:00 Newmarket

Although this race is a step up in distance for Boomshalaa, we can’t help but think he’s got the ability to make the extra furlong here at Newmarket comfortably. Running at Royal Ascot last time out on heavy ground, he ran on to take second place in the Palace of Holyrood house stakes. The conditions could be more to his liking here with good or good to soft ground, so we expect a strong performance.

Longshot of the Day

Aleezdancer @ 11/1 - 2:20 Newmarket (Tattersalls July Stakes)

The Tattersalls July Stakes is the first Group Two race of the Newmarket July Festival and is the oldest event for two-year-olds in the British Horse Racing calendar. Contested over six furlongs, it’s always a fast-paced race and can often throw out a surprise winner. In this race, we’ve picked out our longshot of the day in the form of Kevin Ryan trained Aleezdancer. Victorious in his last two outings at Beverly and Carlisle, he’s stepping up in class here at Newmarket, but he should be able to handle that.
