Ayr Gold Cup Tips

Ayr Gold Cup Betting Tips

The flat season is drawing to a close in UK horse racing, but that's not before one final trip across the border to Scotland for the Ayr Gold Cup Festival. The highlight race is run on the concluding day of the festival - however, there are still handicaps to be contested, so our tipster has taken a look across the racecards and picked out their top selections. If you’re new to horse racing or taking your first visit to Ayr, then why not check out Ayr Racecourse guide for all you need to know.

Nap of the Day

Head Mistress - 3:05 Ayr

Our Nap of the Day betting tips comes in a race exclusively for fillies. Head Mistress travels from Ireland, having won her first two career races. The most recent of those came in a five-furlong listed race at the Curragh, where she ran on to win inside the final furlong. She steps up in class here in a Group 3 and is upped in trip from five furlongs to six furlongs, but that isn't expected to cause her any trouble.

Dark Horse of the Day

Commanche Falls - 3:40 Ayr Gold Cup

The highlight race of the entire festival is the Ayr Gold Cup, and it's here where we've selected our Longshot of the Day Betting Tip. 10/1 chance Commache Falls is trained by Michael Dods, and it's expected he'll run well here given his most recent form of two victories in handicaps, one of those coming in the Stewards Cup at Glorious Goodwood. Racing well there, he made his move late for Conor Beasley. However, we suspect he'd like softer ground, so a little rain shower could improve his chances.

Longshot of the Day

Bergerac - 2:30 Silver Cup

The Silver Cup is always an anticipated race at Ayr, and it's here we've chosen our Longshot Tip of the day in the form of Bergerac. Trained by Kevin Ryan, he's enjoyed a fruitful 2021, having either won or placed in all of his races. His most recent victory came at York 12 days ago on good to firm ground, where he kept on well in the closing stages to take a half-length win. He goes again on a similar distance here, and given the conditions are to his liking, we're expecting a solid run here.
