Keep bets small – It’s important to set a budget and stay within your limits when betting on Premier League Darts or any other sport. Start out small and only increase your risk once you’re confident of your bets. Always set a bet limit and never exceed what you said you were willing to risk.

Take your time – There are more than 100 Premier League Darts matches to bet on over the course of a season, so there’s no need to rush. Take your time when looking at the odds and make reasoned, smart choices based on research. Never rush into a bet and always double check you’re happy with your level of risk before betting.

Don’t overcomplicate bets – Those new to darts betting should keep things simple and focus on the base odds, such as match, night and tournament winner markets. Once you have more experience with Premier League Darts betting, you can then look at more complicated bet structures, like accas.

Who has the best record at the Premier League of darts?

Michael Van Gerwen has a fantastic record in the Premier League, in the 11 appearances that he has made at the event, he has made nine finals. In those 9 finals, he has seven wins with six of those coming in his last six finals.

Who has the worst record at the Premier League of Darts

Adrian Lewis has entered the Premier League of Darts on 10 occasions, only reaching the final once. Lewis put in the worst performance of any final as he lost 10-4 to Gary Anderson. Lewis hit an average of 85.75, the worst average of any player in the final of the tournament.

However, it's very unlikely that Adrian Lewis will make another Premier League, so the name to avoid betting on here is Peter Wright. Wright has entered the tournament on nine occasions. However, his was one of the most respectable defeats in the final of the competition, losing 11-10 to Michael Van Gerwen in 2017 with an average of 101.06. To put it another way, MvG won the tournament four years in a row, in the other three finals, MvG only gave up 12 legs against Wright, he gave up 10.

Wright was 10-9 up in the final and missed 6 darts at a double before MvG put him away in the final leg.

Prize money for the Premier League Darts has grown ten-fold since the tournament was launched way back in 2005. Back then, the prize fund was £150,000 and there were just 11 nights of action.

In 2022 the Premier League Darts prize money broke the £1 million barrier for the first time. Across 17 nights players compete for big money and serious prestige. Here’s how the Premier League Darts prize money is broken down:

Final Position Prize Money

  • Winner £275,000
  • Runner-up £125,000
  • Semi-finalists £85,000
  • 5th place £75,000
  • 6th place £70,000
  • 7th place £65,000
  • 8th place £60,000

Each weekly winner in the Premier League of Darts earns £10,000. Therefore a player could win as much as £435,000 were they to win every round of the tournament and the finals.
