Chelsea Betting Odds
Very few football clubs make as many headlines as Chelsea FC, whether it’s on the pitch or off it, they’re constantly in the media's eye. Most recently, it has been for the sacking of Thomas Tuchel and the ruthlessness of new owner, Ted Bohely. Former Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has taken the reins as he looks to take Chelsea to the next level. However, if Potter isn’t getting the job done, it wouldn’t be a surprise for Chelsea’s American owner to wield his axe once again and select a new Chelsea manager. However, based on results in the Champions League against quality opponents such as AC Milan and their steady start in the Premier League, Potter should at least live to fight another year.
However, one thing that is overlooked at Chelsea at the moment is the strength of their squad, the only thing that is missing from the squad is goals. Which makes them a strong selection for a number of betting odds at the start of the season. In an attempt to rectify that, Chelsea have brought in Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and his ability to run at defenses brings a new dynamic to Chelsea in comparison to their current wingers who prefer to cut inside. Sterling brings a winners mentality and he’s already proven for England that he can score the goals to make the team relatively successful.
2022/23 Season Chelsea Odds
As foolish as it is to rule teams out of the running for all competitions in a single season, that being said most Chelsea betting tips will indicate that Chelsea will go without silverware in the 2022/23 season. Graham Potter will likely need a season to mould the team in his vision, especially due to the sheer difference in preferred playing styles between former boss Tuchel and new boss Potter. They’ve lost the likes of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku which adds a lot of pressure onto the hands of Kai Havertz who hasn’t been a prolific goalscorer for Chelsea in recent years, especially if former Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang fails to live up to the billing. Chelsea’s best chance of silverware could well come in a competition that they aren’t officially in yet, if Chelsea failed to progress from the Champions League and dropped down to the Europa League, then they would be one of the strongest teams in the competition even with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in the tournament. Chelsea Betting Odds: Domestic
Graham Potter would love to win silverware in his first season at Chelsea but we think it’s fairly obvious that his process is going to be a lengthy one. If given time, patience and money, Potter will be able to get the best out of Chelsea but where does that leave them in regards to the 2022/23 season? Success in the EFL Cup (previously known as the league cup) will come too soon for Potter who will look to prioritise league success in his early games, the Premier League title looks a step too far with the sheer strength of teams in the league this season. This leaves the FA Cup, which if Chelsea are in a position of strength after the 2022 World Cup, we may see them fight for the FA Cup. It all depends on how Graham Potter performs in his first two months as Chelsea coach. If you’re looking to back Chelsea in domestic competitions, be sure to check out our FA Cup Betting odds and our EFL Cup betting markets and see what value Chelsea winning a tournament holds this season.
Chelsea Betting Odds: Europe
The Champions League looks a step too far for Chelsea this season. However, it wouldn’t be the first time that they’ve defied the odds to win the competition, in-fact, they seem to perform better in the competition when they are the underdogs. So perhaps being overlooked this year could be a blessing in disguise for them, especially when they play opponents at Stamford Bridge Realistically, Chelsea look more likely to win the Europa League than the Champions League, despite them not even existing in the betting odds for the tournament during the majority of the season. For them to enter the tournament, they would need to finish third in their group in the Champions League and play through an extra round of knockout football in the Europa League against teams that finished second in their group.
Chelsea Betting Markets: Goals
In the tenure of Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea have struggled for goals with their top goalscorer in recent seasons finishing in single figures in regards to goals. One man who may change that in the 2022/23 season is Raheem Sterling, a player who has a history of poor misses but his goalscoring record is vastly overlooked due to the fact he played for Manchester City. If you’re looking to place bets on a Chelsea game, typically your best value for money would come from under 2.5 goals and that will likely stay the same until Graham Potter can get Chelsea playing his way. However, for now, Chelsea games will likely see a very small number of goals, meaning clean sheet and BTTS bets could be excellent choices this season. The addition of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is something that should see Chelsea win more league games this season and with that score a large number of goals.
Chelsea Betting Markets: Cards
Under Tuchel, Chelsea were likely to pick up a larger number of cards than they will under Graham Potter, the English manager likes to control possession and Chelsea will find themselves in control of a larger number of games in his tenure. This means that card bets may have to be slightly more sporadic. With this in mind, we look at the fact that Chelsea will play a higher line under Potter, so the likes of Thiago Silva may have to make some crucial tackles when beaten for pace, making him arguably Chelsea's most solid bet for yellow cards.
