Premier League Matchday Three Preview
The third weekend of Premier League action kicks off with a fascinating Saturday lunchtime tussle between title-chasing Arsenal and buzzing Brighton, with both sides having started the season in impressive fashion.
The Gunners and the Seagulls have each taken six points from two matches and this is an early examination of Arsenal's title credentials. Champions Manchester City also face a tough fixture with a teatime trip to West Ham.
There are a number of other intriguing clashes across Saturday and Sunday and we have picked out the best bets for the weekend’s Premier League action.
Tip 1 – Over 2.5 goals in Nottingham Forest v Wolves @ 3/4
Nottingham Forest suffered a significant psychological blow on Wednesday night when they lost a penalty shootout to Newcastle in the second round of the EFL Cup. The Tricky Trees could be vulnerable when they host Wolves on Saturday.
Forest will feel obliged to attack at home against one of the weaker teams in the Premier League and Nuno Espirito Santo's men will fancy their chances of success against a team which conceded six goals at home to Chelsea last Sunday.
Wolves scored twice against Chelsea and should be involved in another high-scoring match on Saturday.
Tip 2 – Aston Villa to beat Leicester @ 3/4
Aston Villa were easily defeated on their last Premier League outing, but a derby success against Leicester City on Saturday can revive Unai Emery's side. The trip to Leicester can yield three points for the Villans.
West Ham, revitalised after some excellent close-season transfer work, were tough opening opponents for Villa.
A 2-1 away success over the Hammers was a superb effort from Villa while there was no disgrace in losing to title hopefuls Arsenal last Saturday and they can outclass Leicester at the King Power Stadium.
Tip 3 – Tottenham to beat Newcastle @ 6/4
Tottenham had the luxury of skipping the second round of the EFL Cup this week, so Spurs have headed to Newcastle fresh for the fight. A 4-0 thrashing of Everton in their last fixture has sent Tottenham north with confidence coursing through their veins.
Newcastle's EFL Cup trip to Nottingham on Wednesday turned into a long affair, decided by a penalty shootout, and some of the Magpies might get a little leggy against Tottenham.
Newcastle have made an uncertain start to the season and Spurs can add to their woes.
Tip 4 – Liverpool to Win & Both Teams To Score v Manchester United @ 39/20
The biggest match of the weekend sees Liverpool travel to Manchester United and the home side will be worried about suffering another mauling.
The Merseysiders have beaten United by emphatic margins of 7-0, 5-0 and 4-0 in recent meetings.
They have also made the more assured start to the new season and can triumph at Old Trafford. The home side can get on the scoresheet, but Arne Slot's side can boss the fixture.
