Euro 2024 Daily Accumulator: 23/06/2024

Group A concludes on Sunday night and there is still plenty to play for in the final round of matches.

Host nation Germany are assured of their place in the knockout rounds of Euro 2024, but Sunday’s opponents Switzerland have a chance to secure top spot in the group with a victory.

At the same time, there is a straight shootout in Stuttgart. Scotland and Hungary know they have to win to have any chance of making it out of the section and a draw would be no use to either.

We have a selection in each of Sunday’s games to make up a double, which pays out at 8/1.

Switzerland v Germany - Switzerland draw no bet @ 5/2

Germany do need to avoid defeat to hold onto top spot in Group D, but Julian Nagelsmann’s men are assured of their place in the last-16 and that may just take the edge off the host nation.

Either way, Germany were certainly rattled by Hungary, who spurned three of four excellent chances to find the net against the hosts and on another day it could have been a different scoreline.

Nagelsmann may look to switch up his side, with Niclas Fullkrug and Leroy Sane pressing for a starting role, but that will only break up the continuity and Switzerland have shown enough, in a victory over Hungary and draw with Scotland, to suggest they can be a threat.

The opportunity to sit in and counter will be welcome to the Swiss and Murat Yakin’s men showed what they can do as an attacking force when smashing three goals past Hungary.

At 5/2, the Swiss - who made the last 16 at the World Cup in Qatar - look a nice draw no bet play.

Scotland to beat Hungary @ 31/20

A change in approach gave the desired result for Scotland, who performed far better in a 1-1 draw with Switzerland following their 5-1 hammering by Germany in the opener.

The Scots strength comes from the control and quality in midfield and Steve Clarke was wise to field Billy Gilmour, John McGinn, Scott McTominay and Callum McGregor in the middle of the park.

It was a more measured and less frantic approach from the Tartan Army and that suits a side that doesn't possess explosive pace or attacking penetration.

The Magyars are a pacy and dangerous forward-thinking side and they showed their threat by creating three of four excellent chances against Germany.

However, with that desire to push forward comes risks and there is a feeling that Scotland may just have a little too much stability for a Hungary side, who will be forced into chasing the game at some point.

It’s an intriguing contest, with the draw no use for either side and Scotland can be backed to give themselves a shot at knockout football for the very first time.
