England European Championships Betting Odds

After a disappointing exit at the World Cup to the hands to the eventual runner-up, France, England have a chance to put that disappointment behind them at Euro 2024. The team have performed well at International tournaments without winning but it has reached the point where with this group of players, expectations are to win the tournament, which you can find England at 13/4 favourites before the tournament starts despite their poor form.

How will England perform at the tournament? We have everything you'll need to place our England based European Championship bets

England Squad Betting Odds

Who will make the England squad for the European Championships? Gareth Southgate is due to make his announcement on the initial squad on May 21st after the Premier League season ends. With no English clubs in the Champions League or Europa League, Southgate will only have to worry about any Aston Villa players getting injured in club football after the squad is announced.

It is almost certain that at least 16 of Gareth Southgate's squad is guaranteed but here are the players who could still miss out and their betting odds to make the tournament.

Here are the players that we believe we make the 26 man squad

There is plenty of talent from the Premier League on show here for the Three Lions but their best players arguably play abroad with Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane as two standout names. This squad realistically should be aiming for at least the semi finals and a third place finish but after losing in the quarter finals to France at the World Cup, it very much depends on the opposition England will come up against.

England to Win Group C Odds

After qualifying for the tournament by winning group D, England are entered into Group C at the European Championships with three teams that could cause them issues. However, the group is arguably easier than the group they easily qualified from at the last World Cup, so many would expect England to qualify here and go onto at least the semi-finals.

England are odds of 2/5 to win Group C at the European Championships and if you're backing the team for success, you may wish to back them in individual matches in Group C, which are:

  • Serbia Vs England - Sunday June 16th 2024. (20:00)
  • Denmark Vs England - Thursday June 20th 2024. (17:00)
  • England Vs Slovenia - Tuesday June 25th 2024. (20:00)

England will be the favourites to win each game but it is worth paying attention to results in previous games before you choose. For example, if England beat Serbia and Denmark, they will likely field a weakened team against Slovenia. Or if England lose to Serbia, you can expect a cagey affair against Denmark.

England to Win the Euros Odds

As seen above, England's group isn't the hardest at the tournament, they will have their difficulties but they have avoided group B where arguably the toughest opposition in pots two and three landed in the same pot. So, with this in mind, they should win the group, which would lead to a clash against a team that finishes third in groups D, E or F. Which by the betting odds, would be either Austria, Romania or Czech Republic - three matches that would arguably be easier than Denmark in the group, so England should progress.

Following this, England would go on to face either the runner-up in Group A or the runner-up in Group B, which once again - by the betting odds, would be Switzerland or Italy. England dispatched of Italy with ease in the qualifiers and you would expect more of the same on the bigger stage.

Fast forward and beyond this, the odds dictate that England should face either the winner of group E or the winner of group D - enter France. The side that beat England in the 2022 World Cup, if they were to knock out the former World Champions, they would then likely face one of the trio of Germany, Spain or Portugal.

Basically, if England win their group, they will likely have to face these teams in the knockout stages:

  • The team that beat them to win Euro 2020 in the quarter-final.
  • The team that beat them to make the final of the 2022 World Cup in the semi-final.
  • The hosts of the tournament in the final of Euro 2024.

It doesn't look good for the Three Lions However, it is worth noting that these International tournaments, never go how you expect them. So, where will the shocks come from?

If you're backing England to win the Euros altogether, you can find them at odds of 13/4.

Harry Kane to win the top scorer award at Euro 2024

Harry Kane has been in the running for the top goalscorer award at almost every tournament he has ever entered. Probably for longer than we know. Kane sits at odds of 11/2 ahead of the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament and has had an exceptional campaign for Bayern Munich, despite the club struggling this season. Kane has scored 40 goals in 41 games at the time of writing is sure to take that form into the Euros.

However, Harry Kane does stat-pad at major tournaments for England. Kane's struggles in Qatar showed as he only scored twice but in 2020, 2 of his four goals came against Ukraine, one against struggling Germany and the other against Denmark after missing a penalty. In 2018, 5 of his goals came against Panama and Tunisia, who - in regards to quality sit lower than the teams England are set to face in June.

So, unfortunately, Kane winning the top scorer award looks unlikely in our opinion. The best odds here come from the team who will likely dominate the weakest groups, which are in our opinion, Group A and Group E. Germany are without a major prolific goalscorer, so it could be a Belgium star that wins the top goalscorer award this year, Romelu Lukaku sits at odds of 20/1.

How did England qualify for Euro 2024?

England were drawn into Group C of the European Championships qualifiers alongside Malta, North Macedonia, Ukraine and the team they lost to in the final of Euro 2020 - Italy. After dominating Ukraine at the previous tournament, England fans were confident the side would at least finish in the top two positions. The final group finished as seen below:

PositionTeamRecordGoals ForGoals AgainstGoal DifferencePoints
1England6-2-0224+1820

3Ukraine4-2-2118+314
4North Macedonia2-2-41020-108
5Malta0-0-8220-180

England dominated their group and went undefeated with only Ukraine and North Macedonia taking points off the Three Lions. Their recent form has England as a dark horse for the European Championships but they will always be seen as the favourites due to the sheer quality of the players in the squad.

England's Results were:

It was clear after England's victory over Italy, that England took their foot off the gas for the last two games. However, after a loss to Brazil and a draw to Belgium - both on home soil. England go into the European Championship warm-ups off the back of three games without a win.
