Euro 2024 Daily Accumulator: 20/06/2024

The Euro 2024 action in Germany continues on Thursday with three more intriguing matches across the competition.

Group C starts the day’s proceedings as Serbia look to get on the board against Slovenia before England and Denmark clash in Frankfurt in a repeat of their Euro 2020 semi-final fixture.

The evening fixture then pits together two of Europe’s most famous footballing outfits as Spain and Italy both look to seal their progression from Group B with victory.

Tip 1: Serbia to win and Aleksandar Mitrović to score anytime @ 23/10

Although they weren’t blown away by England in their opening Euro 2024 fixture, Serbia struggled to create many chances of their own in Gelsenkirchen.

They eventually finished the match after recording just six shots in total and one on target, but despite that, they should provide more attacking intent in this match against Slovenia.

Their final pre-tournament warm-up outing saw them net three times against Sweden and in striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, they have a player who struck 28 goals across 28 Saudi Pro League appearances for Al Hilal last season.

He’ll lead the line again in this clash, and a glance at the recent head-to-head record should have Serbia feeling confident of winning here. That’s because when these two sides last met in the UEFA Nations League in June 2022, Dragan Stojković’s side won 4-1 before drawing 2-2 with their opposition in the space of seven days.

Tip 2: England to win to nil @ 6/5

After the first round of fixtures in Group C, England sit pretty at the top of the standings thanks to their tight 1-0 victory over Serbia.

That leaves Gareth Southgate’s side in the perfect position and against a Denmark side who will feel the need to grab a positive result in Frankfurt, after drawing 1-1 with Slovenia, they could catch their opposition on the break.

It wasn’t the best performance on matchday one from the Three Lions, but versus a side who are much more likely to attack them, their talented forward line could find plenty of space and opportunity to exploit the Danish backline.

Even despite that though, a tight game should be expected as the last four meetings between Denmark and England have produced just five goals in total.

The Three Lions additionally made history against Serbia by becoming the first side at the Euros to ever keep five consecutive clean sheets in the group stage.

This will also be the fourth meeting between the pair at the European Championship finals and with the English still yet to be beaten across that stint, more success could follow in this latest clash for Southgate’s side.

Tip 3: Alvaro Morata to score anytime @ 5/2

Arguably the pick of the games from this tournament’s group stage sees Spain and Italy meet at Veltins-Arena in Schalke on Thursday evening.

Both of these great footballing nations got off to winning starts in Group B on matchday one, with Luis de la Fuente’s side producing a memorable display to routinely defeat Croatia 3-0.

Italy followed suit by beating Albania 2-1, but despite that victory, their defence did struggle at points throughout, especially as they conceded the fastest goal in the history of the competition after just 23 seconds.

That will come as music to the ears of Spain’s Alvaro Morata, who opened his side’s scoring at this tournament with a cool first-half finish against Croatia.

That goal moved him into third spot in the tournament’s all-time scoring list behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Michel Platini, and with him now finding the net in each of his last three international appearances, he should be the player to watch again in front of goal against Italy.
