Euro 2024 Daily Accumulator: 17/06/2024

The fourth day of action at Euro 2024 sees two of the tournament’s heavyweights begin their campaigns in Germany, with three games on offer on Monday.

Group E starts the day’s proceedings as Romania take on Ukraine before the last of Belgium’s “golden generation” take to the field as they face Slovakia.

The evening fixture sees World Cup runners-up France start their campaign as they come up against Austria to round off Group D.

Tip 1: Ukraine to win and Andriy Yarmolenko to score anytime @ 15/2

Both Romania and Ukraine will fancy their chances of progression from Group E, but it could be the experience of the Blue and Yellow and that proves the difference maker when the two meet in Munich.

This is a fourth straight European Championship finals for Ukraine and Serhiy Rebrov will be hoping to repeat predecessor Andriy Shevchenko’s exploits of a knockout round appearance in Euro 2020.

Although Romania had a stronger showing in qualifying - topping their group unbeaten - Ukraine head to Germany in strong form having won six and lost just one of their last nine fixtures.

Winger Andriy Yarmolenko could be a key cog in the Ukrainian attack once more and he is just two goals shy of Shevchenko’s national record for the Blue and Yellow.

With this extra impetus fuelling him, Yarmolenko could be one to watch in front of goal.

Tip 2: Belgium to win to nil @ 5/4

After underwhelming at previous major tournaments, this may be the last chance for the remaining members of Belgium’s golden generation to achieve continental glory and they can get off to a perfect start against Slovakia.

The Red Devils topped Group F with six wins and no defeats from their eight matches and have looked strong in the build-up to Germany with four wins from their last six, keeping clean sheets in five of these games.

Slovakia have also looked strong in their two pre-tournament warm-up games with consecutive 4-0 victories over minnows San Marino and a poor Wales side, but against stronger opposition they could struggle - as they showed in qualifying with home and away defeats to Portugal.

The likes of Jan Vertonghen, Axel Witsel, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku are still performing for the Red Devils in what could be their last tournament together and they should be able to contribute to victory on Monday, with a clean sheet also expected.

Tip 3: France to win and Both Teams to Score @ 41/20

France are one of the favourites for success alongside England, but Didier Deschamps’ side could be made to work for victory against Austria.

Les Bleus went unbeaten with seven wins and a draw in Group B, but their build-up for Germany has looked less convincing as they lost to the hosts in a friendly back in March as well as being held to a goalless draw by Canada last time out.

Austria qualified for the finals comfortably in second behind Belgium and nine points clear of third placed Sweden in Group F, while their current run has seen them win six of their last seven - including a 6-1 demolition of Turkey.

However, France offer a different level of opposition and the World Cup runners-up in 2022 will be expected to escape their first test of the tournament unscathed.

They have, though, kept just three clean sheets across their last nine, so do not be surprised if Austria grab a goal on the night.
