Champions League Matchday Four Tips

Champions League - Matchday 4 tips

It's getting to the business end of the Champions League group stage, with matchday four upon us this week.

There are contrasting fortunes for the five British sides, with plenty to play for in midweek. Arsenal and Man City are topping their groups, but Newcastle and Man Utd have work to do if they are to make the knockout stages.

Celtic have been a little unfortunate to collect only one point from their three Champions League contests, but the Bhoys travel to Atletico Madrid for what could be an all-or-nothing tie on Tuesday night.

Bet on the Champions League

Tip 1 Celtic to beat Atletico Madrid @ 9/1

Celtic travel to the Metropolitano Stadium to face Atletico Madrid in a game where a defeat could spell the end of their Champions League qualification chances. On paper, the Bhoys look to face a challenging task, but it may not be as tricky as the offers of 9/1 suggest.

Brendan Rodgers' side battled to a 2-2 draw with Atletico at Parkhead on matchday three, and that was a contest where Celtic had plenty of the ball. Of course, the Spanish side now have home advantage, but Celtic appear to have benefited from a kinder preparation.

Rodgers rested plenty of first-team players for Celtic's 3-0 cruise against Ross County on Saturday, while Diego Simeone saw his full-strength Colchoneros side turned over 2-1 at Las Palmas.

Atletico will be without the suspended Rodrigo de Paul, and Simone's side may not be as superior as the prices suggest.

Tip 2 Copenhagen to beat Man Utd @ 3/1

Man Utd certainly edge Copenhagen in terms of reputation, but on the evidence of their clash at Old Trafford on matchday three, that's about all the Red Devils have in hand.

United won the shot count 12-11, but they lost the corner count 10-5; they were outplayed by Copenhagen in the first half and needed a last-gasp penalty save to stop the Danes from taking a point.

A point was the least that Jacob Neestrup's men deserved, and the Team of the City now have a homeParken Stadium crowd on their side.

United did beat Fulham at the weekend, but that wasn't a convincing victory, and Erik ten Hag's men are likely to be vulnerable to a pacey Copenhagen attack that notched another four goals on Saturday.

Tip 3 PSG to beat Milan @ 5/4

PSG were impressive 3-0 winners over Milan in Paris on matchday three, and that victory can be repeated at the San Siro.

Milan's preparation for the reverse fixture was far from ideal, having played much of their 1-0 home defeat to Juventus with ten men, but things don't look good for the Rossoneri on Tuesday either.

It's just one win in six matches for Stefano Pioli's men, and they were last seen losing 1-0 to Udinese in Milan.

PSG are not the force of previous seasons, but the Parisians retain enough quality to win in Italy.
