2023 Tour Championship Betting Tips
It's the final event of the FedEx Cup playoffs this week with the top 30 players in the standings competing for the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club, which has been the permanent home of the event since 2004.
A starting-strokes system will be used again with the leading player in the standings, Scottie Scheffler, beginning the tournament at -10, while second on the list, Viktor Hovland, starts at -8.
Rory McIlroy opens at -7, Jon Rahm is -6 and Lucas Glover is -5, while Max Homa, Patrick Cantlay, Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark and Matt Fitzpatrick will all be at -4.
Tommy Fleetwood, Russell Henley, Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele start at -3; at -2 there is Tom Kim, Sungjae Im, Tony Finau, Corey Conners and Si Woo Kim, while Taylor Moore, Nick Taylor, Adam Schenk, Collin Morikawa, Jason Day are all at -1.
Level-par rounds off the starting-strokes system with Sam Burns, Emiliano Grillo, Tyrrell Hatton, Jordan Spieth and Sepp Straka all beginning on that mark.
The winner of the Tour Championship will be crowned FedEx Cup champion, earn a bonus of $18 million and also be handed a five-year PGA Tour exemption.
Tip 1 - Lucas Glover to win and each-way @ SP
American stalwart Lucas Glover has enjoyed a memorable last few weeks, with his victory at the Wyndham Championship seeing him jump from outside the top 100 in the FedEx rankings to inside the top 70 - securing his place in the playoffs.
The 2009 US Open champion then kept his hot streak going by claiming the St. Jude Championship, jumping inside the top five of the standings and also putting his name into the Ryder Cup equation for a captain’s pick for the USA.
Glover, who was tied-22nd at last week’s BMW Championship, is five shots behind the lead going into the opening round and it would be no surprise to see him perform well at a course at which he has two top-tens.

Tip 2: Xander Schauffele to win and each-way @ SP
World number six Xander Schauffele is enduring a trophy drought, having last claimed the spoils at the 2022 Scottish Open, but he has been producing consistent golf this year and was tied-eighth at the BMW Championship.
Not only did that result secure the 29-year-old's place at the Tour Championship, but it was also good enough to see him snatch the sixth and final automatic spot for the USA's Ryder Cup team for next month’s event at Marco Simone Golf Club, Rome.
Confidence will be high after that positive performance at Olympia Fields and the seven-time PGA Tour winner will be optimistic of keeping the momentum going at East Lake, a course at which he has regularly excelled.
Schauffele won the Tour Championship in 2017 on his course debut before following that with a tied-seventh result in 2018 and then a runners-up finish 12 months later.
The American then shot the lowest 72-hole score in the 2020 edition but had to settle for a share of second due to the starting-strokes system, while his last two outings in Atlanta have produced overall finishes of tied-fifth and fourth.
Despite being seven shots behind Scheffler heading into Thursday's opening round, Schauffele has shown he can go low at this course and a second Tour Championship could be coming his way.
