Bundesliga Betting Tips

This weekend marks the return of the German Bundesliga and each week we will be offering you all our biggest and best football betting tips for all of the main games.

Bundesliga Betting Tips Augsburg vs. Freiburg

Freiburg defied expectations in last season's Bundesliga, finishing sixth to bag a place in the Europa League, and the Black Forest outfit can start the new campaign on the front foot against Augsburg.

Freiburg lost key defender Nico Schlotterbeck this summer but have replaced him with Matthias Ginter, while veteran forward Michael Gregoritsch should also enhance their attacking threat.

Only Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen picked up more points on the road than Freiburg in the Bundesliga last season, and Christian Streich’s men shipped only 21 goals in 17 matches on their travels.

They should be fancied to see off Augsburg, who finished only five points clear of the bottom three last term and won only seven league games at home.

Bundesliga Betting Tips: Union Berlin vs. Hertha Berlin

Like Freiburg, Union Berlin punched above their weight in last season's Bundesliga, placing fifth, only one point off the Champions League places.

It was an exceptional season and although it remains to be seen how they will cope with juggling European and domestic duties this time around, they should start by bagging maximum points against Berlin rivals Hertha.

Hertha finished 16th last season and went on to win their relegation playoff with Hamburg to stay up but have seen a number of players depart this summer and they still do not look in great shape.

Union, meanwhile, lost Taiwo Awoniyi to Nottingham Forest this summer but Jordan Siebatcheu could be a decent replacement and they had a strong home record last term.

At the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei, they lost only twice in the league last season, having won 10 of their 17 fixtures, and they should comfortably get the better of their neighbours.

Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayer Leverkusen

Last season, the Bundesliga once again justified its reputation of being one of the highest-scoring leagues in Europe and the fact Bayern Munich beat Leipzig 5-3 in 90 minutes in the German Super Cup on Saturday emphasised that German sides know where the goal is.

Borussia Dortmund's league games averaged a divisional-high 4.03 goals per game last season, while both teams scored in 23 of Bayer Leverkusen's 34 league fixtures in 2021-22.

With that in mind, there could be goals on the cards when these two heavyweight sides clash at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday evening with their most recent meeting in February having finished 5-2 in favour of Leverkusen.

Leverkusen are spearheaded by one of the division's finest strikers in Patrik Schick and, although Dortmund lost Erling Haaland to Manchester City this summer, new forward Karim Adeyemi is a threat as is veteran attacking midfielder Marco Reus.
