Masters Snooker Betting Tips
Before you get stuck into the action it’s worth looking at a few simple Masters Snooker betting tips to get you started. These tips are designed to help players of all experience levels – whether you’re an experience bettor or totally new to the sport!
Set a budget – Always set a budget when betting on Masters Snooker matches and never stray below it.
Do your research – Use BetUK’s stats and the wealth of news articles available at the Masters Snooker website to research each player thoroughly. Doing this will help you understand the form players, who has a better head-to-head record in match-ups, and where’s best to place your bets.
Look for upsets – The Masters is not a running tournament and so players can come into this event out of form. Upsets are common, especially as the Masters takes place in January, after the long Christmas break. Look for against-the-odds upsets and you may come into big profit.
Back the Brits – British players won nine of the 11 Masters Snooker tournaments played between 2013 and 2023. Only China’s Yan Bingtao and Neil Robertson of Australia bucked the trend. If you’re looking for an outright bet on the Masters Snooker then Brits are the smart option.
Expect close finals – Five of the seven Masters Snooker finals between 2017 and 2023 featured matches that went to 17 or more frames. Considering it’s a best-of-19 showdown, this shows just how competitive the finals are.

Here are some of the Masters Snooker betting odds you can bet on before and during the tournament:
Masters Snooker champion odds – Bet on who will win the whole thing. The odds are usually larger before the tournament starts but they then narrow as players get eliminated.
Match betting – Bet on who will win individual matches, from the first round through to the final.
Score betting – Bet on the correct score in each Masters Snooker match on the competition. The odds are greater here but it’s harder to get right.
Total frames over/under – Bet over or under a set number of frames in a match. Remember, early matches are best-of-11 while the final is best-of-19.
Century breaks – Bet on a player to make a century brake in a match or in their next frame.
Each Way bets – Bet on who will win the Masters Snooker and then select Each Way to split your wager in half. The first half goes towards a win in the final, and second half on your pick to make the Masters final. This way you get some back-up if your pick loses at the last table.
Masters Snooker Biggest Upsets
There have been some huge against-the-odds Masters Snooker betting upsets down the years and it’s likely we’ll see more to come next January too. Here are three of the biggest Masters Snooker betting upsets in the final:
Higgins beats O'Sullivan – 2006
This wasn't an upset as such but it was against-the-odds. Ronnie O'Sullivan led 60-0 in the final frame with the match locked at 9-9. He was on course for victory before missing a tricky red. John Higgins stepped up and cleared up with a 64 to clinch the title. The odds at the time of O'Sullivan's miss were minuscule in the Rocket's favour.
Hunter beats O'Sullivan – 2002
O'Sullivan had experienced defeat from a winning position in a Masters Snooker final before. Back in 2002 he was 7-2 up against Paul Hunter and looked primed for victory before the 'Beckham of the Baize' hit back. Hunter made five centuries and won the final three frames to win the Masters from under O'Sullivan's nose.
Hendry beats Hallett – 1991
It's not often people bet against Stephen Hendry and those that did in 1991 were badly stung. He Scot reached the final against Mike Hallett as was the odds-on favourite for victory. Hallett somehow raced into a 7-0 lead and then 8-2. His Snooker Masters odds swung as bettors in bookmakers across the country turned on Hendry. But then the fightback began and Hendry stormed back to eventually win 9-8.
