Stoke City Betting Odds

The odds on Stoke City to get promoted are stretching as the Potters can’t seem to score goals. Stoke hasn’t been in the Premier League since 2010-2011, and they haven’t come close to being promoted.

In fact, the Potters have found themselves at the wrong end of the Championship table over and over again. Stoke City has finished 14th or lower in all their Championship seasons since being booted from the EPL.

In 2023-2024, Stoke City had to pull off some end-of-season heroics to keep them up. As the Stoke City odds of staying up were shortening, the Potters managed to win three key games at the end of the season, which kept them in the Championship.

Stoke City’s attack is really holding the club back and causing Stoke City to stay up odds to increase. The Potter’s top striker, Andre Vidigal, scored six goals in the Championship last season. He didn’t receive much backup from Ki-Jana Hoever, who only slotted four goals. However, don’t write off Stoke just yet; they know how to defend in open play, conceding only 36 times in 46 games, which was tied 6th best in the league.

Stoke City Relegation Odds

Stoke City finished a little too close to the relegation zone last season, coming in 17th. If Stoke City had lost two more games, they would be playing League One this season. When you think back to all of the close games the Potters found themselves in during their 2023-2024 campaign, so many of those matches could’ve ended in defeat, especially the 20 draws Stoke City racked up throughout the season.

Football is a simple game, teams that don’t score goals inevitably find themselves relegated. Stoke City only managed to score 49 goals throughout the entire season. All of the relegated teams in 2023-2024 scored 50 goals or less. By scoring so few goals, the Potters are really flirting with relegation. If Andre Vidigal, Stoke’s top scorer, has another poor season and only nets six goals, then the Potters could very well be sent down to League One.

Stoke City, at best, is most likely a mid-table team. The club doesn’t have to be anywhere near their worst to end up being relegated, as we saw last season, where they had periods of strong play and even went on winning streaks. Backing Stoke City relegation odds could be a sharp bet because you’re basically betting on the Potters to perform only slightly worse than expected.

Stoke City Promotion Odds

The Potters ended up in 17th place at the end of last, so it would take a brave punter to back Stoke City promotion odds. However, there are definitely some positive signs for Steven Schumacher’s men.

Back in October 2023, Stoke City went on a fantastic run, recording three wins in a row and then back-to-back draws. They went even better in December and January, going on a seven-match unbeaten streak. Amazingly, The Potters suffered just one defeat in their last eight matches.

Stoke City has shown they can consistently win in the Championship and come away with points. However, there are still questions about their attack. Can a team with a top goal scorer who only manages to net seven per season really fight for promotion? If Stoke is going to be playing EPL footy in 2025-2026, they need to solve the goal-scoring problem pronto!
