What is the Eredivisie?

Ranked as the seventh-best league in Europe by UEFA, the Eredivisie is the top-tier of professional football in the Netherlands and includes 18 teams from across the country. After each team has played each other at home and away, the champion will be decided, as well as two teams to be relegated to the second-tier of Dutch league football. The champion and runner-up of the league below will be automatically promoted to the Eredivisie. Clubs finishing third from the bottom of the table will be placed into a play-off with six of the highest placed teams in the league below, deciding who will be promoted or relegated.

When will the Eredivisie start?

The Dutch Eredivisie is set to start in August 2023 and will run until May 2024.

How many games are played in the Eredivisie?

Each team will play each other twice throughout the season both home and away, resulting in all teams playing a total of 34 games each. After the season has finished, a set of play-off fixtures will follow including third from bottom in the Eredivisie and the six highest-placed teams from the league below. Betting on the Eredivisie top scorer

With Bet UK, you can bet outright on who will score the most goals in the Eredivisie when the season comes to a close in May 2024. If Simons stays, you could back him to finish as the top goalscorer next season.

The bottom two teams in the Eredivisie league will be relegated to the Eerste Divisie with the team that sits in 3rd bottom going into the relegation play-offs against teams in the Eerste Divisie. Last season, Almere City finished in third place, beat FC Eindhoven and VVV Venlo before beating Eredivisie side Emmen to ensure their promotion.
