2023 Men's Wimbledon Tips

Only four men have won Wimbledon since 2003 but with eight-time champion Roger Federer having retired and two-time winner Rafael Nadal out injured, it is down to Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray to keep that trend going.

Murray’s hopes look slim but Djokovic remains the man to beat in his pursuit of a fifth straight Wimbledon title, a victory which would see him move level with Federer on eight All England Club wins.

World number one Carlos Alcaraz is the young pretender hoping to bring an end to Djokovic’s dominance and the rising Spanish star had the ideal preparation by claiming his first grass-court title at Queen’s Club.

But Djokovic had Alcaraz’s measure in the French Open semi-final and hasn’t suffered defeat at Wimbledon since being forced to retire from his quarter-final clash with Tomas Berdych way back in 2017.

Tip 1 - Novak Djokovic to win Wimbledon @ 11/20

Bet on Novak Djokovic to win

The bookmakers believe Wimbledon this year is a straight shootout between Djokovic and Alcaraz and bettors should expect experience to come to the fore.

Having kick-started the season with wins at the Australian Open and the French equivalent, the Serbian superstar remains on course for a calendar Grand Slam.

Djokovic is the most decorated male player in history with 23 Grand Slam titles and he has made Wimbledon his own in recent years, winning it in four successive attempts.

Since winning his maiden Wimbledon crown in 2011, Djokovic has failed to make at least the semi-final only twice and the grass is particularly suited to his approach.

Although considered the greatest ever returner of serve, the 36-year-old is also armed with a formidable forehand and is able to adapt to whatever style of player he is faced with.

Quite frankly, it is difficult to see how Djokovic can be stopped on the hallowed turf of Wimbledon and he is more than a worthy market leader.

Tip 2 - Jannik Sinner each-way @ 14/1

Bet on Jannik Sinner Each Way

If there is to be an upset at this year’s Wimbledon then there is every chance Jannik Sinner could be the man to provide it.

Matteo Berrettini was runner-up to Djokovic two years ago and Sinner is another Italian who looks well-suited to these demands, which was highlighted on his run to the quarter-final last year.

The 21-year-old came closer than most to defeating Djokovic at Wimbledon, with the then tenth seed taking the first two sets only to be overhauled by the eventual champion.

But Sinner outplayed the Serb in those opening two sets and would have learned plenty from that experience, suggesting he could be capable of building on that effort in years to come.

The Innichen native had defeated Alcaraz in the fourth round and, having now made a quarter-final in all four Grand Slams events, could be ready to go one step further.

The athletic Sinner has a good range of shots and is extremely flexible, a little reminiscent of Djokovic, and with a bit of luck from the draw could outrun his odds of 14-1.

2023 Women's Wimbledon Tips

The men’s singles competition at Wimbledon has been dominated by a small pool of players in recent years – but the women's tournament has been much less predictable with six different winners in as many editions.

Elena Rybakina won her first Grand Slam title at the All England Club last year and the Kazakh, who reached the final of the Australian Open in January, is a live contender to go all the way again.

However, the defending champion hasn't had an ideal preparation. Rybakina was forced to withdraw from her warm-up event in Eastbourne with a virus and that could leave her undercooked for the year's third Grand Slam.

World number one Iga Swiatek and world number two Aryna Sabalenka have claimed the first two pieces of Major silverware this season in France and Australia, and the superstar duo will be hoping they can capitalise on Rybakina’s rustiness.

Last year’s runner-up Ons Jabeur, two-time champion Petra Kvitova and Karolina Muchova, who was beaten in a three-set thriller by Swiatek in the recent French Open final, are just a few other potential title candidates.

Womens Tip 1 - Aryna Sabalenka to win @ 15/4

Bet on Aryna Savalenka to win

With Rybakina needing to prove her well-being and Swiatek yet to cut it on grass - she has not gone beyond the fourth round at Wimbledon in three attempts - Sabalenka could take some stopping.

The Belarusian sampled Grand Slam glory for the first time at the Australian Open in January before making it to the last four of the French Open, meaning she has made at least the semi-finals in five of her last seven Major appearances.

That consistency at the top table is difficult to knock and having been forced to miss last year’s Wimbledon, Sabalenka will be keen to make up for lost time.

Sabalenka was a Wimbledon semi-finalist in 2021 and her power-packed game makes her a formidable opponent for anyone when she brings her A-game.

The 25-year-old’s aggressive style is well-suited to grass courts and a 14th career title could be on the agenda for Sabalenka at SW19, which may also see her climb to the top of the world rankings.

Womens Tip 2 - Ons Jabeur each-way @ 13/1

Bet on Ons Jabeur Each Way

Jabeur will be desperate to go one better than last year when the Tunisian was beaten in the final by Rybakina.

The world number six had been a Wimbledon quarter-finalist in 2021 but she built on that effort last year, becoming the first Arab player to make a Grand Slam final.

The Tunisian trailblazer proved that performance was no fluke when finishing runner-up at the US Open later in 2022, and she hinted that a return to peak form could be around the corner at the recent French Open.

Jabeur made the quarter-finals at Roland Garros and two of her four career titles have come on the grass - in Birmingham in 2021 and Berlin last year - which highlights her credentials on the surface.

Jabeur is quick on her feet and her excellent shot variety makes her an unpredictable opponent, qualities which should stand her in good stead this summer.
