##Rugby Union Predictions

When it comes to Rugby Union betting, competitions are rarely as big as the Six Nations, which returns in 2025. Ireland are the big favourites at evens, France sit at 3/1 and England sit at 4/1 at the time of writing. The competition that is just as big as the Six Nations, is the World Cup, which we won't see until 2027, for this competition, New Zealand are the early favourites with France and Ireland slightly behind them in the betting odds.

There are also league competitions in the United Kingdom and France that bettors can place bets on throughout the season

Rugby League Predictions

The biggest competition in Rugby League is the World Cup, which has been pushed back to 2026 instead of 2025 due to financial implications. For now, at the time of writing all we know is 14 of the 16 nations that will compete and that the competition will be held in the Southern Hemisphere.

However, Rugby League also hosts England's Super League, which is one of the biggest competitions across the sport of Rugby. Founded in 1996, the league is one of the most popular for Rugby bets across the year, particularly for Handicap betting as the gap between the top and the bottom teams is so large, betting on a particular Super League game can see handicaps of 30+ points at less than even money.

Tips for Rugby Matches

The basics of Rugby Union is that you'll find games are slightly higher scoring due to higher points totals for a try. However, 3 tries in a game would only gain you 3 extra points, so betting markets based on handicaps will have slightly lower odds but perhaps the best odds come from betting on the winning margin. In the knockout stages of the Rugby Union World Cup, there was just one game that had a winning margin higher than 12 and that was the semi-final between Argentina and New Zealand. However, if you took out games involving Argentina, five out of the remaining six games were decided by less than 4 points, the other game was decided by six. So, a winning margin bet of 1-6 would have won you almost every game.

In the group stages, the gulf in class was significantly larger but the handicap bet was still a favourite of fans through the tournament with six games seeing a team win by more than 70 points.

Meanwhile, for Rugby League, the best competition to take into consideration is the Super League, domestic competitions tend to be easier to study as all the information you need is in one place but international competitions tend to have bigger gaps between the teams, so Rugby World Cup predictions can be rather stale if tipsters stick to the basic bets. However, for a Rugby Championship such as the Super League, there are more opportunities for shocks, just look at Wigan Warriors Vs Wakefield Trinity in 2023.
