The Memorial Betting Tips
The PGA Tour moves to Dublin, Ohio, this week as the world's best players compete in The Memorial Tournament.
World number one Scottie Scheffler is the 3/1 favourite to win the event and defend his crown, having beaten Collin Morikawa by one shot in 2024.
Scheffler is in red-hot form heading into the tournament after winning The CJ Cup and US PGA Championship in back-to-back weeks before then finishing tied-fourth in the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Masters champion Rory McIlroy will not tee off this week, though, having decided to miss the event for the first time since 2017. A field of 45 players will compete for glory, with seven set to make their debut at Muirfield Village.
Hovland to shine again at Muirfield Village
Accuracy is key at Muirfield Village, with course designer Jack Nicklaus making sure crisp iron play is rewarded.
Scrambling and strong play around the greens is also crucial, and Viktor Hovland knows what it takes to win this event, having prospered in 2023.
That success was his first on the PGA Tour, and he has started to find his form again after a rough few months.
The Norwegian has been consistent with his approach play all year, and he ranks eighth on the PGA Tour within the Strokes Gained on Approach category.
He finished in the top 30 at both The Masters and US PGA Championship, while he won the Valspar Championship earlier this season.
Hovland has usually enjoyed himself at Muirfield Village, and this week should be no different.
Bet Selection: Viktor Hovland outright winner each-way @ 28/1
Straka in the groove at present
Austrian Sepp Straka is now up to ninth in the world rankings and he offers so much value this week in Ohio.
He missed the cut at the US PGA Championship, but he won the Truist Championship the week before, while he also won The American Express at the start of the year.
Straka was second heading into the final round last year in this event, but he failed to reduce Scheffler's lead.
Despite some poor showings in the Majors, Straka has seven top-15 finishes this season, and he should be in the mix on Sunday.
Bet Selection: Sepp Straka outright winner each-way @ 35/1
Fitzpatrick back to his best ahead of Ohio trip
Sheffield's Matt Fitzpatrick has work to do to prove he belongs in the European Ryder Cup team, and it appears that he is doing all he can to prove to Luke Donald he deserves his spot.
A tie for eighth in the US PGA Championship will have helped his confidence, and he finished tied-fifth at this event last year.
Fitzpatrick has now gained on strokes on Approach in four consecutive events, and that will be so important this week. He has finished inside the top nine in The Memorial Tournament on two occasions, and things are looking up for the 30-year-old.
Bet Selection: Matt Fitzpatrick outright winner each-way @ 45/1
