Premier League Matchday 14 Preview

The beginning of the dreaded Christmas period begins as our first festive gameweek arrives. There isn't an early fixture this weekend but there is Newcastle United Vs Manchester United which begins at 8pm on Saturday evening - a repeat of the 2023 EFL Cup final. Bet on the Premier League However, if Saturday evenings football is a classic, then Sunday's is the treat of the weekend as Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur in a game that is always a classic and looks to be even bigger as 2023 reaches it's conclusion. Back to Premier League Betting Tips More Football Betting Tips

Tip 1 - Tottenham to beat Man City @ 10/1

Tottenham have lost three Premier League matches on the bounce, but those are the only three matches that Spurs have lost all season and they look a huge price to win at Manchester City. Ange Postecoglou is working with a depleted squad, with up to nine players missing for the trip to Manchester, but Yves Bissouma is back from a ban and Richarlison could be fit to return, while there is still plenty of talent in the Spurs squad. Clearly, Tottenham face a difficult task taking on the champions, below full strength, but 10/1 is a huge price. City are the champions and they remain a fantastic side, but they lost Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez in the summer, while Kevin De Bruyne remains sidelined through injury and they also were involved in a pretty intense Champions League tie on Tuesday. City failed to beat Chelsea and Liverpool, they lost at Newcastle and Arsenal and it’s clear that Pep Guardiola’s men can be vulnerable to the Premier League’s stronger sides. City are certainly the most likely winners of Sunday’s game, but Spurs surely have a better chance than an offer of 10/1 suggests.

Tip 2 - Manchester United to beat Newcastle @ 11/4

Newcastle are another side ravaged by injuries, with Sandro Tonali, Emil Krafth, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff, Callum Wilson, Jacob Murphy, Dan Burn, Matt Targett, Elliot Anderson, Sven Botman and Harvey Barnes all set to miss Saturday’s clash with Man Utd. The Magpies were dealt a cruel blow when conceding a 98th-minute penalty to Paris Saint-Germain which cost them a famous win on Tuesday and that contest may have left its mark. Newcastle lost the shot count 21-4, the corner count 6-2 and managed only 27 per cent possession in Paris and it’s going to take a big effort to go again on the short turnaround. Of course, United played Galatasaray on Wednesday, but the Red Devils have more scope to freshen up their starting line up on Saturday and Erik ten Hag’s men look a good bet at St James’ Park.

Tip 3 - Crystal Palace to beat West Ham @ 14/5

West Ham made the long trip to Serbia in the Conference League on Thursday night, and although the Hammers have won three Premier League games on the bounce, the demands of European competition could catch up with what is a fairly thin squad. The Irons have won only one of their four top-flight matches following Thursday night European action and a home tie against Crystal Palace may not be as straightforward as the prices suggest. Roy Hodgson is wise enough to prevent West Ham from having any space to exploit on the counter-attack and David Moyes could be without Mohammed Kudus, Vladimir Coufal, Edson Alvarez, Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen this weekend. Palace could edge this London derby and 14/5 looks a nice price.
