About The Commonwealth Cup

Added to the Royal Ascot racecard in 2015, the Commonwealth Cup was introduced to the meeting as part of the sprint horse racing programme. Open to three-year-olds only, this race is contested over six furlongs, the same as the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. As part of the races' short history, it was the only Group 1 in Great Britain exclusively for three-year-old horses, which allowed geldings to compete, and this only changed in 2019, when geldings were excluded, and it's now open to only colts and fillies. Given the race has only eight runnings in its history, only one jockey has managed to land multiple victories in this race, and that is Frankie Dettori with Campanelle and Advertise. Other notable jockeys to win this race are Jim Crowley and Ryan Moore. When it comes to trainers who've managed to land a win in this Group 1 contest, Aidan O'Brien, Wesley A. Ward, and Richard Fahey are those who are noted for winning at this meeting.
