MLS Betting Odds

There are two stages of betting odds that you can find in Major League Soccer, outright betting markets on competitions and betting markets for individual MLS matches. For the latter, the odds are split up into outright odds and in-play odds. Outright odds allow you to bet on betting markets at the start of a game, meanwhile, in-play betting odds mean that you can bet on an individual game as they go on. For a long time, the MLS became a hub for betting markets on transfers. Following David Beckham's transfer to LA Galaxy in 2007, the Inter Miami owner has become a catalyst for big transfers of players such as Gareth Bale, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Carlos Vela have bolstered the strength of their team in American Soccer. However, with this in mind, big names in the football world have been consistently linked with moves to the MLS in the transfer window particularly in the Summer window when teams are hoping to be playing in the playoffs and will pay big money even if it is just to make the first round of the playoffs.

What is the MLS?

Major League Soccer (MLS) is the top tier of professional football in the United States including 28 teams, with 3 teams located in Canada and the remaining 25 coming from across the US. This is set to expand to a total of 29 teams for the 2023 season.

How does the MLS work?

Adopting a more unique structure, the MLS is divided into two conferences based on the geography of the teams, creating Eastern and Western Conferences with 14 teams included in each Conference. All the teams will play home and away against the teams included in their Conference, with an additional 10 games to be played against the teams in the opposite Conference. Once all the league games have been played, the team with the most points will be awarded the Supporters Shield, which is the honor for the regular league.

Once the season has concluded, a knockout tournament will be hosted which will decide the winner of the league, bringing the competition to a close in October. This tournament only includes 14 teams from the MLS, consisting of 7 of the highest placed teams from the Eastern Conference and 7 of the teams from the Western Conference. The final game of the season is known as the MLS Cup and is the most prestigious title that can be achieved in the entirety of the MLS competition.
