Before the Usyk fights, Joshua’s only career defeat came against Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019. Ruiz was a major underdog going into the fight and was widely mocked due to his physical condition. However, it was Ruiz’s knockout power and unbelievable speed that gave him the victory against AJ. For their return fight, Ruiz attempted to slim down, and instead of trying to knockout Ruiz, Joshua simply outboxed him to claim an easy victory. In previous fights, only Wladimir Klitschko had given A.J anything to worry about. But the Brit put in what was arguably the greatest round of his career to defeat the legendary boxer in the 11th.
