UFC Fight Night 143 Betting Tips

UFC Fight Night 143 takes place January 19th 2019 at the Barclays Centre, New York. The event will mark the debut of the UFC 5-year contract with ESPN. UFC flyweight champion, Henry Cejudo faces TJ Dillashaw. Cejudo pulled off the 'Upset of the Year' when he defeated flyweight record-breaker Demetrious Johnson, who has since left the UFC to compete under the ONE FC promotion. However, Dillashaw will be looking to make his own piece of history, if he wins he will be only the third man to be a champion in two divisions.

The Bet UK MMA writer has a 90% hit record in his last two UFC betting tips guides. Will he get the full house this time? See below:

Henry Cejudo (c) vs. T.J. Dillashaw

It's a champion vs. champion bout with only the flyweight belt on the line. This is an interesting match up between two very experienced fighters. Cejudo is an Olympic wrestler and Dillashaw is perhaps one of the most gifted and most fluid strikers in the UFC today. Under the masterful tutelage of Duane Ludwig, Dillashaw has lost only one fight since 2014. His notable wins include two wins over Renan Barao and two wins over Cody Garbrandt, both fighters were favoured to be the next big UFC stars. Cejudo, however, derailed 'Mighty Mouse' who had broken Anderson Silva's record for the most title defences. He was a fighter who looked unbeatable until Cejudo returned years later after losing their first fight. Although Dillashaw will be cutting weight for the fight, he is renowned for his cardio. I believe Dillashaw will be too strong and too fast. Dillashaw is one of the most impressive champions in the lighter weight classes and he's at his career peak right now.

Greg Hardy vs. Allen Crowder

Greg Hardy makes his official UFC debut in the co-main event against Allen Crowder. Hardy who is a product of Dana White's Contender Series has been given a shot by UFC brass after previous controversy, but the former NFL defensive end is committed to rebuilding his life. Hardy has won all three fights by first round KO. The heavyweight is a natural athlete, very powerful and shows an appetite for aggression. He's the type of fighter the UFC boss loves. His opponent, Crowder has a bit-part record with an appearance in Bellator and in the UFC, he's also a product of the Contender Series, development league. He's had many more fights than Hardy but I think the pure athleticism of Hardy will shock Crowder. Hardy will set a relentless pace that Crowder just won't be used to.

Gregor Gillespie vs. Yancy Medeiros

Gregor Gillespie is a well-rounded fighter with a NCAA Division 1 wrestling pedigree. He is undefeated at 12-0 with a mixture of knockouts and submission victories. He will be keen to notch another win under the UFC banner in his home state. Medeiros, who's returning to lightweight after fighting four times at welterweight is looking to bounce back from a recent loss to Donald Cerrone. The Hawaiian is very tough with a mass of experience in the UFC against some household names. Big wins over Erick Silva and Alex Oliveira shows he has what it takes to beat quality opponents. Returning to his natural weight could be the spark he needs to light his title run up again. The main difference here will be the wrestling of Gillespie, the All-American is the 2007 national champion and the first freshman All-American in history. He also holds the most career wins in school (152) also with the highest winning percentage.

Joseph Benavidez vs. Dustin Ortiz

Two-time title challenger, Joseph Benavidez is heading into a rematch with the upcoming prospect Dustin Ortiz. Benavidez has already notched a win over his fellow flyweight in 2014. Since then Benavidez has essentially fought everyone there is in the flyweight division he has notable scalps over top competitors including current flyweight champions and headliner Henry Cejudo. Ortiz, on the other hand has had a rocky road. He's since bounced back and is now riding a three-fight winning streak including a pair of first-round knockouts. Benavidez clearly has the edge here, having already taken a win. Apart from that, he's only lost one fight in eight.

Paige VanZant vs. Rachael Ostovich

UFC sweetheart, VanZant will return to action of a long injury layoff to face Ostovich. VanZant is coming back after a pair of losses, most recently against Jessica Rose-Clark. The 24-year-old is still young in the sport yet already headlining an event and fighting a number of times under the UFC banner. She needs a UFC resurgence to get back to winning ways. Ostovich will be fighting for the third time in the UFC and she too is also coming off a loss against De La Rosa via submission. Both fighters have the right marketing behind them to make a case but they need to win here. I think PVZ can pull this one out the bag, although she has had a long layoff she has excellent wrestling and she has good cardio to be able to push the pace for three rounds.
