Newcastle Betting Tips – March Racing Tips

Newcastle host consecutive all-weather meetings on Thursday and Friday this week on their Tapeta surface.

Thursday's seven-race card takes place between 1.25-4.50, while on Friday, there is an evening meeting from 5.15-8.15.

Here is a look at some of the key races across those two cards.

2.00pm – BetUK Over 40,000 Live Streamed Races Handicap (1m4f)

BARENBOIM just failed in his hat-trick attempt at Wolverhampton (2m½f) back in January. David O'Meara's in-form gelding is back down to a winning distance, and although this is a new career-high mark, he can score again at Newcastle in this small-field contest.

Selection: Barenboim

2.35pm – Huge Daily Boosts Only At BetUK Maiden Stakes (1m2f)

Both Jumeira Vision and Through The Ages both represent strong yards and are interesting newcomers in this maiden contest. However, this is their first taste of competitive action, so the preference goes to SAINT GEORGE.

The son of Roaring Lion, from Andrew Balding's yard, came home midfield on his debut at Kempton (1m) back in December but expect to see him produce much more now he knows what it is all about.

Selection: Saint George

3.10pm – Top Odds Every Day With BetUK Handicap (1m2f)

With five wins from his last six starts, fewer horses have been in better form on the all-weather over the last few months than ZEALOT.

He was beaten on his penultimate start at Southwell (1m), but he bounced back to score over this C&D in January.

The handicapper has put the gelding up another 7lb in the ratings but the excellent Billy Loughnane's 5lb claimer helps keep the horse's weight down to a workable allocation.

Selection: Zealot

3.45pm – Huge Daily Boosts Only At BetUK Handicap (5f)

WALKING ON CLOUDS has a 50 per cent strike-rate on the all-weather, winning on five of his 10 starts and has really enjoyed this surface since switching to it back in November.

Grant Tuer's gelding hit the frame from this mark when he finished third of 11 at Southwell (6f) last week.

He has been handed a much better draw this time and is good enough to take advantage in this 5f sprint contest.

Selection: Walking On Clouds

6.15pm – Spreadex Sports Best Premier League Odds Handicap (7f)

BOND BOY has already been successful three times this calendar year, with his most recent victory coming on his penultimate start over this distance at Chelmsford.

He was unable to complete a hat-trick when he stepped up to 1m at the Essex-based venue last month, as he raced too freely but former Champion Jockey Oisin Murphy has been booked for the ride this time and he can help the four-year-old produce his best again over this winning distance.

Selection: Bond Boy

6.45pm – Huge Daily Boosts Only At BetUK Novice Stakes (6f)

Richard Fahey's colt YESTERDAY'S HERO made a winning debut at Chelmsford (6f) earlier this year, where despite that being his opening appearance, he looked like he had plenty of experience.

The son of Dandy Man won going away from his rivals, suggesting there is much more to come from this horse.

Selection: Yesterday's Hero
