Premier League: Matchday 26 Tips

There is another cracking weekend of Premier League action ahead and we are also treated to Sunday’s EFL Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea.

Title contenders Arsenal host Newcastle on Saturday and that game gets underway at the unusual time of 8pm.

Reigning champions Manchester City head to Bournemouth in the regular Saturday evening 5.30pm slot and the Citizens will be looking to keep the pressure on Liverpool and the Gunners at the top of the Premier League table.

Tip 1 - Bournemouth to beat Man City @ 13/2

Manchester City are the current Premier League champions and the reigning kings of Europe, they have the best coach on the planet in Pep Guardiola and a supremely talented squad, but the Citizens aren’t playing like any of those things are the case at the moment.

City have the potential to click and blow any opposition away, but they took 71 minutes to break down Brentford in a 1-0 victory last time out, they were held to a 1-1 draw against Chelsea prior to that Etihad contest and they weren’t entirely convincing in wins over Copenhagen and Everton.

The Citizens have lost Premier League games at Aston Villa, Wolves and Arsenal this season, they were defeated at Newcastle in the EFL Cup and, at 13/2, Bournemouth look worth a punt to upset the champions on Saturday.

Tip 2 - Arsenal v Newcastle over 3.5 goals @ 23/20

Arsenal have been in scintillating form and it’s five victories on the bounce for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta’s men have scored 21 goals and conceded only two on that impressive run and the north London side are mounting a serious title challenge.

Arsenal are 1/3 to beat Newcastle on Saturday night, and while the Gunners are fancied to get the job done, that does look a little too short.

Arteta’s side traveled to Portugal to face Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday and it’s a fairly short turnaround for this game. Those continental commitments are a big boost to Newcastle’s chances at the Emirates, but playing over 3.5 goals looks the best bet.

The Magpies have seen 41 goals scored across their last nine matches and another high-scoring clash looks likely in north London.

Tip 3 - West Ham v Brentford over 2.5 goals @ 8/11

David Moyes didn’t have the backing of all of the West Ham supporters in the good times and an eight-match winless run has done little to boost the former Manchester United gaffer’s popularity in east London.

The Irons were crushed 3-0 by United, that was followed by a 6-0 hammering at home to Arsenal and last weekend's 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest that saw them put in another poor performance.

However, before pressing the back button on Brentford, it’s worth considering that the Bees have had two tough games on the bounce against Man City and Liverpool, with the latest clash against the champions coming on Tuesday.

That tempers enthusiasm for backing Thomas Frank’s side, but the net has bulged 38 times in Brentford’s last 10 games and getting on goals looks like the play at the London Stadium.
