FIFA Women's World Cup 2023
The 2023 Women's World Cup is set to be the ninth edition of the tournament, the biggest stage of women's football will be hosted by Australia and New Zealand and will be contended between July 20th and August 20th 2023. This rendition of the World Cup is set to make history for a number of reasons, the first of which is the fact that it is the first World Cup to be held across multiple confederations with Australia part of the Asian confederation and New Zealand part of the Oceanian Confederation. The second is that the Women's World Cup 2023 will be the first to feature the expanded format, replicating the Men's tournament with 32 teams.
FIFA Women's World Cup Group Stages
Group A
Predicted Pos | Team | World Ranking | Odds (Group) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Norway | 12th | 3/10 |
2 | Switzerland | 20th | 21/4 |
3 | New Zealand | 26th | 6/1 |
4 | Philippines | 46th | 100/1 |
Summary
Hosts New Zealand have been drawn in a tough group with Norway and Switzerland, both of whom will look at this as a fantastic chance to progress in the World Cup. It's likely that Switzerland Vs New Zealand on July 30th 2023 will determine who makes it to the knockout stage alongside favourites Norway.
Group B
Predicted Pos | Team | World Ranking | Odds (Group) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Australia | 10th | 1/2 |
2 | Canada | 7th | 2/1 |
3 | R.o.I | 22nd | 17/1 |
4 | Nigeria | 40th | 35/1 |
Summary:
On paper, the strongest team here is Canada, Group B is arguably the worst group home nation Republic of Ireland could have had with hosts Australia alongside one of the tournament favourites in Canada. The R.o.I have looked good in recent matches but they tend to fall short against better teams and we can see that happening here with Australia finishing as the Group B winner.
Group C
Predicted Pos | Team | World Ranking | Odds (Group) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Spain | 6th | 1/5 |
2 | Japan | 11th | 5/1 |
3 | Costa Rica | 36th | 100/1 |
4 | Zambia | 77th | 80/1 |
Summary:
Perhaps the easiest to call is Group C with Spain and Japan sitting levels above both Costa Rica and Zambia. The remaining question is who do we think will win the group, Japan offer fantastic value at 5/1 but Spain should be able to hold off Japan and finish top of Group C.
Group D
Predicted Pos | Team | World Ranking | Odds (Group) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | England | 4th | 1/25 |
2 | Denmark | 13th | 11/1 |
3 | China | 14th | 40/1 |
4 | Haiti | 53rd | 100/1 |
Summary:
Home nation and European Champions England sit in a group with two difficult opposition teams. On paper, they should have enough to best Denmark and China but both teams have the capability of sneaking a result. Haiti should end on 0 points, unless the first game between Denmark and China ends in a draw, we should know the fate of these teams relatively early on.
Group E
Predicted Pos | Team | World Ranking | Odds (Group) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | USA | 1st | 3/10 |
2 | Netherlands | 9th | 5/2 |
3 | Portugal | 21st | 50/1 |
4 | Vietnam | 32nd | 100/1 |
Summary:
Current World Champions the USA are at odds that we would deem surprisingly generous. They come into this tournament on the back of a 19 game win streak, the only team who realistically should cause problems for them is Netherlands who will likely be battling for second place in Group E with Portugal.
Group F
Predicted Pos | Team | World Ranking | Odds (Group) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | France | 5th | 1/2 |
2 | Brazil | 8th | 31/20 |
3 | Jamaica | 43rd | 80/1 |
4 | Panama | 52nd | 100/1 |
Summary:
The hardest decision to make in the entire tournament at this point is who will finish top of group F. France are the favourites but Brazil have a fantastic team and their match in Brisbane Stadium will likely decide who wins the group.
Group G
Predicted Pos | Team | World Ranking | Odds (Group) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Sweden | 3rd | 1/7 |
2 | Italy | 16th | 6/1 |
3 | Argentina | 28th | 17/1 |
4 | South Africa | 54th | 80/1 |
Summary:
The battle for second in Group G should be the most exciting out of the eight groups, Italy and Argentina both have the potential to pull out a surprise result against Sweden as the favourites aren't in the best form with defeats to host nation Australia and Denmark in their last five games, we think they'll progress as group winners but Italy offer fantastic value at 6/1.
Group H
Predicted Pos | Team | World Ranking | Odds (Group) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Germany | 2nd | 1/20 |
2 | Colombia | 25th | 13/1 |
3 | South Korea | 17th | 20/1 |
4 | Morocco | 72nd | 100/1 |
Summary:
Only United States sit above Germany in regards to World Ranking and history demonstrate that when it comes to tournament time, very few teams have the acumen of the Germans. As for second place, we believe that Colombia will have the edge on South Korea down under.

As the team that we believe could win the World Cup we have chosen Spain, who our tipster believes will face Germany in the final. Spain's squad were unlucky at the European Championships and we believe they'll perform above expectations at this tournament. A large number of their squad are young players who have shone at club level and we believe this tournament will be where Salma Paralleulo makes her name on the world stage. She already has a hat-trick against Argentina and a brace against Norway to her name and we believe she is a very good option for goals while most will be looking to the likes of Alex Morgan and Bethany England.
