Next Stoke City manager betting odds

When Alex Neil was sacked as Stoke City boss on December 10th, they were sat 20th in the league and looking down. The hiring of Steven Schumacher didn't seem to change a lot at the club; until March where Stoke began the month with an impressive 2-0 win over Middlesbrough and won six out of their final 12 games, an impressive end to the season kept Stoke City up and kept Steven Schumacher in a job.

The question for the next season is whether or not Stoke City can get their season off to a good start, if they do, Schumacher will keep his job but if they don't, Stoke City will be very tempted to shift their attentions elsewhere.

Dips in form may cost Schumacher his Stoke job

One area that has been consistent for Stoke is that when they are in a slump, they struggle to get out of it. Between games four and 11, they won just once. Between games 15 and 23, they failed to win and they lost all but one game between games 28 and 34.

These dips in form aren't continuous games against better opposition as Stoke had the following results while in the previously mentioned 'slumps' last season.

  • Stoke City 0-3 Blackburn Rovers
  • Queens Park Rangers 4-2 Stoke City
  • Stoke City 1-2 Birmingham City
  • Sunderland 3-1 Stoke City
  • Blackburn Rovers 3-1 Stoke City.

Why have we chosen these games specifically? They are all games against teams that finished on the same points or lower than Stoke last season.
