World Series of Darts Betting Tips & Odds
Vienna is the location for the World Series of Darts Finals 2018, with the event getting underway on Friday 2nd November. Michael van Gerwen is looking to win the event for the fourth year in a row, having claimed the title for the past three years. He will be part of a 24 man field that will all be looking to claim the £50,000 winners prize. The top 8 in the World Series Order of Merit will be seeded for the event and enter at the second round stage. They will be joined by 4 PDC Order of Merit qualifiers, 4 Tour Card Qualifiers and the 8 next best from the World Series Order of Merit.
Outright World Series of Darts Tips
Backing MVG to win a darts tournament at odds of 10/13* is hardly pushing the boat out, but on this occasion, we believe it is thoroughly justified. There is nothing more dangerous in the darting world than a wounded Michael van Gerwen, and the world number 1 will be feeling the pain after being dumped out of the European Championship in the second round in a 10-7 shock defeat to Steve West last week. That ended a 21-game unbeaten run for MVG in that tournament, and he will be looking to bounce back in style.
The fact that van Gerwen has won the last three World Series of Darts finals is of course in his favour too. Though he only won one of the six World Series events in 2018 leading up to this, he clearly ups his game for the big finale. “Mighty Mike” may not be playing the best darts of his career but he is certainly still the man to beat and the darts odds reflect that.
Another sign of van Gerwen’s greatness is the fact that he always comes into form just before the PDC World Darts Championship. That tournament is the holy grail for MVG and he knows he needs to be at his best going in if he is to reclaim the World title. Here at Bet UK we believe that the Green Machine could well prove many doubters wrong by lifting the World Series of Darts trophy on Sunday.
If you would prefer to avoid an odds-on favourite, then Mensur Suljovic to win the tournament at Bet UK odds of [20/1*] looks like a decent shout. The main thing “The Gentle” has going for him in this tournament is obvious: he has the home advantage. Suljovic is a hero in his native Austria and the fans will be loudly behind him for the entire tournament. It should not be underestimated how much having a partisan crowd can positively affect a player, especially someone as passionate as the Austrian.
Mensur Suljovic has had a very impressive year on the board too, consistently reaching the latter stages of tournaments. The highlights of 2018 have included a phenomenal run to the final of the World Matchplay, where he was unlucky to lose to Gary Anderson in the final. The World Series of Darts has been kind to Mensur too, having won the first event of 2018 in the form of the German Darts Masters back in May.
His story of leaving war-torn Serbia and being accepted by the Austrian people is an inspiring one and emotion could carry him through some tough matches this weekend. Entering at the second round stage, Suljovic will take on either Ross Smith or newly crowned European Champion James Wade. It is likely to be Wade, who will give Suljovic a good game but we expect the home advantage to be the key for Mensur. He is worth a look in the World Series of Darts outright market here at Bet UK.

RAYMOND SMITH vs KEEGAN BROWN
It’s Australia vs England as Raymond Smith takes on Keegan Brown in round one. The winner of this contest will go on to face the former World Darts Champion Raymond van Barneveld in the second round, so there is plenty to play for. Raymond Smith got his best result of the World Series in his home country, as the Aussie managed a surprise 6-1 victory over Michael Smith. Keegan Brown has made it as a Tour Card qualifier and should have a little too much for his opponent here so we will tip Brown to win at odds of 5/9*.
MAIK LANGENDORF vs DAMON HETA
Another of the Tour Card qualifiers, Maik Langendorf will be the only German representation at the event. With the tournament taking place in neighbouring Austria, it is likely that Langendorf will be well supported. His opponent Damon Heta is another of the Australian contingent and reaches this stage thanks to his good performance at the Melbourne Darts Masters, where he beat Kyle Anderson. This game is very evenly matched with Langendorf a slight odds-on favourite, but Bet UK will look at the Over/Under Legs market instead, tipping Over 9.5 Legs at odds of 25/29*.
IAN WHITE vs KYLE ANDERSON
Ian White is now fondly known as Stoke’s number one after years of being in the shadow of Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis. Though he is a really steady player, White rarely turns on the fireworks in terms of entertainment. Kyle Anderson certainly has the talent and if he shows up to his full potential, Ian White could be in trouble. We believe that the odds of 13/10* present good value for the Aussie.
DAVE CHISNALL vs DAWSON MURSCHELL
Dave Chisnall is coming back into some form this year after a poor spell. Still in the top 10 in the world, Chizzy goes through spells of proving that he really is a quality operator at the top level and is a class above many other players on the tour. We expect Dave Chisnall to completely blow Dawson Murschell away and dominate the match. Therefore, odds of 2/3* for Dave Chisnall -2.5 legs on the Handicap looks quite solid.
JAMIE LEWIS vs DIMITRI VAN DEN BERGH
Jamie Lewis rose to prominence with a shock run to the semi-finals of the 2018 PDC World Darts Championship after coming through the preliminary rounds. It was a fairytale run that ended in a defeat to the legendary Phil Taylor, in a match that would turn out to be “The Power’s” last ever professional win. Dimitri van den Bergh reached the quarter-finals at the World Championships, and also reached the final of the German Darts Masters earlier this year. He is a dangerous player that should have too much for Lewis, who has not been great since that World Championship run. You can get odds of 1/1* for DvdB -1.5 legs on the Handicap here at Bet UK.
GERWYN PRICE vs ROYDEN LAM
Gerwyn Price has had a strange year. His inaugural Premier League Darts campaign was an absolute disaster, which he openly admits himself. Since then though, the Welshmen has had some decent results. Just last week there were wins against Kyle Anderson and Dave Chisnall while he won a European Tour event in September. Roydon Lam of Hong Kong only qualified for the World Series of Darts Finals as Corey Cadby had to withdraw due to a broken arm. Odds of 4/1* can be claimed for our Gerwyn Price to win 6-2 tip.
STEVE BEATON vs DARYL GURNEY
Daryl Gurney goes into this first round contest as the heavy 5/12* favourite to win the match but it is the First Leg Total Checkout market that we are looking at for this one. Both players are more than capable of taking out a decent outshot, and they will want to get off to as fast a start as possible. Odds of 1/1* are available on the Bet UK online sportsbook for our tip of 41 or more.
ROSS SMITH vs JAMES WADE
James Wade is fresh off the back of a fantastic European Championship win last weekend, which was his first televised tournament win in almost four years. He dedicated that trophy to his newborn son Arthur, and will be looking to add another title to his name in quick succession. Tour Card qualifier Ross Smith will have his work cut out for him against a “Machine” that is full of confidence. Odds of 4/5* for James Wade -2.5 legs on the Handicap looks like good value considering recent form.
