Swansea City v QPR Match Report

Bet UK: Who Hit The Target - Oliver McBurnie

The Scottish striker might not have grabbed a goal at the Liberty Stadium, but Oli McBurnie was involved in everything that Swansea produced going forward. Deployed just behind youngster Courtney Baker-Richardson, McBurnie was influential throughout the match, expertly linking midfield and attack. McBurnie grabbed his first assist of the match after just 16 minutes. The Scotsman knocked down a deep cross into the path of Baker-Richardson, who happily applied the finishing touch into the corner.

For Swansea City’s 3rd goal, McBurnie collected the ball until the perfect moment, releasing Jay Fulton into the box. McBurnie appeared to thrive in his new deeper position. Coming into midfield to get the ball and working alongside a partner allowed him to be more influential. After a strong start to the season, McBurnie has struggled to find the net recently. But under Potter’s new system, we could see a new lease of life for the striker.

Swansea City 3-0 QPR Match Report

It was a straightforward win in South Wales for Swansea, grabbing their first win in 3 games. QPR crafted their only chance in the opening minutes as Massimo Luongo shot narrowly wide. It didn’t take long for Swansea to hit back as Courtney Baker-Richardson grabbed his first goal for the club after 16 minutes. Kyle Naughton’s deep cross was headed down for Baker-Richardson, who volleyed past Joe Lumley. Baker-Richardson should have bagged a second minutes later, but fired over the bar from close range.

Swansea doubled their advantage in the second half through Connor Roberts. Substitute Jay Fulton played Roberts into the box, who cut onto his left foot before firing past the goalkeeper. Fulton turned from provider to goalscorer late on, as he placed a low shot into the bottom corner to finish the game. A comfortable scoreline is a welcome sight for Swansea City. Recently, the Swans have failed to find the net and this is the first time that they have truly dominated a side. A win takes Swansea up to 7th, only outside of the play off places on goal difference.
