Last Time Out in the Championship

Swansea City got off to the perfect start last week away at Sheffield United. The Swans came back from 1-0 down to win 2-1, Yan Dhanda scoring with his first ever touch in league football. Oli McBurnie also opened his account for the season in an impressive first performance of the 18/19 season. Summer signing Barrie McKay was another player to have an impressive debut performance. The former Forest winger ran the Sheffield United defence ragged, smashing the bar with a second half shot. If McKay continues with strong performances, he is sure to be a fan favourites this year.

Last Time Out in the Championship

Preston beat Steve McClaren’s QPR side 1-0 at Deepdale on the opening weekend of the Championship season. It wasn’t a classic game, with few chances falling to either side. Alan Browne got onto the end of a free kick to put Preston in the lead 5 minutes after half time. From there on, Preston looked like the most likely team to score the next goal. Callum Robinson and Josh Harrop both had second half chances, but the Lilywhites failed to add to their goal advantage.

Swansea City v Preston North End Head to Head

Swansea City and Preston North End haven’t played each other since Swansea’s last stint in the Championship in 2010/11. Their last meeting was at Deepdale, with Preston running out as 2-1 winners. Prior to that, Swansea has won 7 of the last 8 meetings between the two sides. The last time Swansea and Preston met at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea won 4-0. Nathan Dyer scored that day and could play again on Saturday as the 2 teams meet again 8 years later.
