SWANSEA CITY 17/18 CARABAO CUP FOR
LAST TIME OUT IN THE CARABAO CUP
Swans fans will, of course, have fantastic memories of this Cup competition. Back in 2012/13, Swansea City lifted the League Cup after an emphatic 5-0 win over Bradford City at Wembley, thanks to two goals each from Nathan Dyer and Jonathan De Guzmán plus a left-footed effort into the bottom corner from Michu. Last season, Swansea City reached the last 16 of this competition thanks to a 1-4 win at MK Dons, followed by a 0-2 away success at Reading. Eventually, the side came unstuck at the Liberty Stadium against Premier League giants Manchester United, after two goals from Jesse Lingard.
CRYSTAL PALACE 17/18 CARABAO CUP FORM
LAST TIME OUT IN THE CARABAO CUP
Crystal Palace has never reached the final of the League Cup under any of its different guises. They will be looking to change that this season of course, but as of today their best finish is a semi-final place on four occasions, most recently in 2012. Similar to Swansea City, The Eagles also reached the last 16 of the Carabao Cup last season. At the second round stage, they overcame Ipswich Town 2-1 at Selhurst Park before defeating Huddersfield Town 1-0 in round 3. The last 16 stage saw their opponents Bristol City run riot, catching Roy Hodgson’s men off guard in a 4-1 success.
SWANSEA CITY V CRYSTAL PALACE HEAD TO HEAD
Swansea City has a very positive record against Crystal Palace on the whole, having won 13 times throughout history while only losing 5 times. One extremely notable recent fixture was the incredible 5-4 victory for The Swans at the Liberty Stadium in November 2016, as two goals in stoppage time from Fernando Llorente completely turned the game on its head and gave Swansea the three points. Last season saw Paul Clement lead The Swans to a 0-2 win at Selhurst Park after quickfire goals from Tammy Abraham and Jordan Ayew, with the reverse fixture leading to a 1-1 draw in Wales in December 2017.
