Premier League Gameweek 3 Preview and Tips

Premier League Gameweek 3 Preview and Tips

Premier League teams are getting used to the intense nature of the league, as well as building up to full fitness. The football can only get better from here as players become more match ready. To celebrate the release of Bet UK’s new online sportsbook, we are previewing this week fixtures, along with betting tips for every Premier League game.

Wolves v Manchester City - Saturday 25th August at 12:30pm

It’s been an interesting start for Wolves, with their season being a bit hit and miss so far. Nuno Espírito’s men got a point on opening weekend but fell to defeat away at Leicester last time out, even though Jamie Vardy was sent off for the hosts. Man City are certainly not the team they would have chosen to pick next, but they’ll hope that their vociferous home support can lift the players.

Pep Guardiola seems to have his Man City side playing even better football than they were last season, which is a terrifying thought for the rest of the league. The current Premier League champions destroyed Huddersfield 6-1 last week after seeing off Arsenal in the opening weekend. Star striker Sergio Aguero got yet another hat-trick against The Terriers, and even without Kevin De Bruyne there is an embarrassment of riches to choose from. A trip to newly promoted Wolves shouldn’t phase them.

Bet UK’s Prediction

There’s not much that can stop the juggernaut that is this Man City side, and their fine form should should continue here despite Wolves’ positive summer transfer window. Manchester City to win 3-0 is currently 31/4 at Bet UK, with our sportsbook pricing a Man City win a 1/4.

Arsenal v West Ham - Saturday 25th August at 3:00pm

No-one seems to know what to make of Arsenal yet this season. Arsene Wenger leaving after so many years in charge was always going to leave a massive question mark over the club, and Unai Emery will have to do his best to prove that he’s the right man to lead them forward. The Gunners were a little unlucky to lose at Stamford Bridge last week after a good fightback, but the missed chances certainly cost them.

West Ham have had a shocking start to the season and will need to turn things around quickly, otherwise the fear of fans becoming restless may become a reality. It’s the defensive errors that have been their biggest problem, especially against Bournemouth last time out. Manuel Pellegrini is likely to opt for plenty of pace going forward in order to try and exploit Arsenal’s high defensive line. Whether or not this will work remains to be seen. Lucas Perez could feature against the side he left in the summer.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Both sides lost their first two games, but Arsenal have been by far the more impressive of the two sides. Arsenal 2-0 West Ham is 33/4 with Bet UK’s sportsbook, with an Arsenal win currently 20/57.

Bournemouth v Everton - Saturday 25th August at 3:00pm

Bournemouth will be delighted with the start they’ve made to the 2018/19 season, winning both of their Premier League fixtures so far. Callum Wilson is back amongst the goals, being supported by the creativity of wide man Ryan Fraser. Eddie Howe got his tactics spot on away at West Ham last week, successfully exploiting their defensive fragilities. They will look to be on the front foot again at The Vitality Stadium.

Everton look very dangerous going forward under new manager Marco Silva, with star signing Richarlison rediscovering the form that he had lost at the backend of last season. The Toffees saw off Southampton at Goodison Park last week, and will head to the south coast full of confidence. New signings Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes are still missing but Everton fans will still expect a result.

Bet UK’s Prediction

This should be a tight game, with both teams getting off to extremely fast starts. Too close to call, so a draw is the prediction. The 1-1 draw is currently 6/1, with any draw 5/2 at Bet UK’s brand new sportsbook.

Huddersfield v Cardiff City - Saturday 25th August at 3:00pm

Huddersfield Town have every right to be worried, after taking two hammerings already this season. The Terriers sit rock bottom of the Premier League with an eye-watering -8 goal difference already. Though it’s only their third match, this one is looking like a must win already. If David Wagner’s men don’t get a result here, there will be serious questions being asked.

Cardiff just seem happy to be at this level. Neil Warnock did an excellent job in earning them automatic promotion to the Premier League, but they are very much favourites to go straight back down. Last week they looked decent though, earning a draw against Newcastle United after Neil Etheridge saved Kenedy’s stoppage time penalty. They will smell blood in the water after Huddersfield’s poor start.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Both sides are tipped to struggle this season and, judging by the respective starts they have made, those predictions seem to have substance. The Terriers should edge this one. Huddersfield to win 1-0 is 5/1 at Bet UK, with our sportsbook offering 13/10 for the Huddersfield win.

Southampton v Leicester City - Saturday 25th August at 3:00pm

Southampton have gone under the radar a little bit so far, but it has been far from a thrilling start for them. Picking up one point from two matches, they are under early pressure to prove they won’t be in yet another relegation battle. New signing Danny Ings got off the mark at Everton last week, but it wasn’t enough to prevent The Saints falling to defeat.

Leicester City have started well, picking up a hard fought win last week against Wolves at the King Power Stadium. The bad news is that The Foxes will be without their main man Jamie Vardy on Saturday after the striker was sent off for a strong challenge on Matt Doherty. James Maddison got his first goal for the club last week and looks like he may have a breakout season.

Bet UK’s Prediction

It remains to be seen how Mark Hughes and Claude Puel handle the pressure this season, but so far The Foxes look the better side. Leicester to win 2-1 is 11/1, with a Leicester win priced at 43/20 on our online sportsbook.

Liverpool v Brighton - Saturday 25th August at 5:30pm

Liverpool’s winning start to the Premier League season continued against Palace on Monday. The Reds won 2-0 thanks to a James Milner penalty and a 3rd goal of the season for Sadio Mane. Naby Keita stole the show however. The new midfield maestro was responsible for most of the attacking threat for Liverpool throughout the game. He could have easily grabbed a couple of assists as well, if Mo Salah could have converted his chances.

Brighton put their opening day loss behind them with a fantastic 3-2 win against Manchester United. In truth, the scoreline flattered United as Brighton dominated the match from start to finish. Glenn Murray put on a first half masterclass as he escaped his marker and provided a deft touch to finish over David De Gea. From then, Brighton never looked like losing and arguably could have won by more. Chris Hughton will be hoping that his team can play with a similar intensity against Liverpool.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Expect another high scoring game at Anfield. Bet UK are offering over 3.5 goals at 21/20* on our online sportsbook.

Watford v Crystal Palace - Sunday 26th August at 1:30pm

Watford have starting the season in fine form, picking up 2 wins out of 2 so far. Watford’s squad failed to adapt to Javi Gracia’s tactic last season, but it appears that a full summer of preparation is paying dividends. Andre Gray, Roberto Pereyra and Abdoulaye Doucoure all look revitalised. A 3-1 win at Burnley is no mean feat, only 1 other away team has scored 3 goals at Turf Moor since 2015. The only worry for Watford is that this is a similar story to last year, when they’re early season form had them challenging for Europe. This year, Watford fans will be hoping that the Horney can keep it up.

Crystal Palace were brought back down to earth against Liverpool, after their 2-0 win at Fulham. It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Palace fans, as their team still put up a fight against Liverpool. A penalty and a late second as Palace pushed for a winner added to glorify a score that perhaps does not reflect the result. Games such as Watford away will be the type of fixture where Palace fans will look to pick up the odd point.

Bet UK’s Prediction

There’s a lot of optimism at Vicarage Road this season and Watford look the real deal this year. Watford to win and both team to score is 7/2* at Bet UK’s sportsbook.

Newcastle United v Chelsea - Sunday 26th August at 4:00pm

An awful last minute Kenedy penalty was saved to deny Newcastle the 3 points at Cardiff last weekend. It was a scrappy game between 2 poor sides, with a 0-0 draw very reflective of the match. Newcastle still had the best chances of the game. Cardiff were more than happy to sit back, but after Isaac Hayden’s reckless red card, the game was almost over as a spectacle. Kenedy had the chance to wrap up the game, but after his worst display in a Newcastle shirt, it was no surprise to see his penalty saved.

Maurizio Sarri seems to have got his Chelsea side following his tactics fairly quickly. A poor Community Shield performance has been followed up by 2 strong showings in the Premier League. Saturday’s Arsenal game could have went much differently however. Chelsea still don’t look 100% sure of themselves defensively and if not for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang's glaring miss, they could have lost the game. Eden Hazard and Mateo Kovacic are both getting to full fitness ready for the weekend and should provide another dimension to Sarri's side.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Chelsea should have too much quality for Newcastle and will continue their strong start to the season. Chelsea to win 3-0 is 12/1* with Bet UK’s sports betting feature.

Fulham v Burnley - Sunday 26th August at 4:00pm

After such a strong summer transfer window, Fulham fans might well be disappointed with their start to the season. Tottenham dominated the game but there were some positives to be taken from the game. Aleksandar Mitrovic opened his goal scoring account as he looks to repay his £22m price tag. Jean Michael Seri and Ryan Sessegnon both produced exciting displays and showed promise that they pair can contribute to Fulham’s play this season.

Burnley now have a choice to make between their Europa League campaign and their Premier League campaign. The Clarets lost 3-1 against Olympiakos on Thursday, but they could still pull it around in the return leg. If they were to prioritise that game, you would expect that Sean Dyche would field a weakened team on Sunday. Without a full strength team, they could be looking at a second successive defeat.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Fulham should get their campaign up and running against Burnley this weekend. Fulham to win 2-1 is 17/2* with Bet UK’s online sportsbook.

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur - Monday 27th August at 8:00pm

Manchester United fans can now justify their early season worries after their 3-2 loss to Brighton. New signing Fred initially impressed against Leicester but looked lackluster at the AMEX. In his defence, his teammates hardly outshined him. No United player will be able to look back on his performance and feel that they did well enough. Jose Mourinho looks like he is having trouble motivating his players, but he will need that to change against Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino might not have signed any new players in the summer, but his current squad are fully justifying his decision. Harry Kane has finally broken his August goalscoring duct as he looks to win back the Premier League Golden Boot. Kieran Trippier also marked his return from the world cup with a stunning free kick, whilst Lucas Moura continued his impressive start to the season. Tottenham look to be firing on all cylinders, despite the criticism they have faced. With a new stadium on the horizon, it’s vital that they have Champions League football again next year.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Harry Kane is back for the new season and we look forward to him carrying on his form. Harry Kane to score first is currently 7/2* at Bet UK’s online sportsbook.
