Premier League Gameweek 5 Preview and Tips

Premier League Gameweek 5 Preview and Betting Tips

The Premier League is back after the international break, with almost every team having some of their star players travelling to represent their countries. There is no time to rest however, with the next round of Premier League fixtures just around the corner. Bet UK take a look at this weekend’s fixtures, as well as bringing you the latest Premier League betting tips and odds from our online sportsbook.

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool - Saturday 15th September at 12:30pm

Possibly the highlight of the weekend is Tottenham v Liverpool at Wembley. Tottenham were originally hoping this game would be played at their new stadium, but building delays means they are back at their temporary home. Heung Min Son returns to north London after his appearance at the Asian Games, although Lucas Moura could well keep him out the team. The Brazilian has been in form this season and was awarded August’s Player of the Month after 3 goals in 4 games.

Liverpool are one of 3 teams who can still boast a perfect start to the season after 4 wins out of 4 so far. The Reds look far stronger than last year and have only conceded 1 goal so far, after Allison’s mistake at Leicester. Klopp had criticised the Brazilian for constantly dribbling out of his area and predicted a mistake would come soon. He will be hoping that the Brazilian has learned his lesson. Mo Salah heads back to Anfield with his head held high after 2 goals and 2 assists for Egypt against Niger.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Both teams are exciting going forward and there should be a lot of goals in this one. Bet UK are predicting over 3.5 goals, which is 17/10* on our online sportsbook. We also have a number of Bet UK Boosts on Tottenham v Liverpool, including Kane to Score and Tottenham To Win at 5/2*.

Bournemouth v Leicester - Saturday 15th September at 3:00pm

Bournemouth started the season strongly with 2 wins but haven’t been as impressive in recent weeks. A 2-0 loss against Chelsea cannot be criticised too much however, with Sarri’s side looking better each week. Jefferson Lerma made his first appearance off the bench at Stamford Bridge, but was only given 5 minutes of action. The Colombian will be hoping for more of an opportunity to impress on his home debut this weekend.

Leicester City will be boosted by the return of Jamie Vardy this weekend. Claude Puel was one of the early favourites to be sacked before the season started, but Leicester are impressing so far. James Madison has taken to the Premier League with very little effort and is already one of the first names on the team sheet. Rachid Ghezzal also managed to grab a goal as he looks to be the man to replace Riyad Mahrez at the King Power. If all the new signings can continue to impress, then Vardy should get plenty of chances on the south coast.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Both teams have conceded in 3 of their 4 matches so far this season. Both teams to score and the match to end as a draw is 3/1* at Bet UK’s online sportsbook.

Chelsea v Cardiff City - Saturday 15th September at 3:00pm

Eden Hazard, Pedro and Jorginho have all starred for Chelsea this season. Hazard’s career appears to be following a pattern of one good season and one poor season whilst at Chelsea. This season looks to be another starring one, as he dominates games for both Chelsea and Belgium during the international break. Pedro is another player who has rediscovered his old form. The Spaniard looks just as dangerous as he was at Barcelona, something which had been missing so far at his time in England. Chelsea fans will be hoping the upcoming Europa League will not have too much of an effect on their strong start to the season so far.

Cardiff City finally managed to score their first 2 goals of the season against Arsenal, and were unlucky to come away without a point. After 2 battling draws against Huddersfield and Newcastle, Cardiff have faced far tougher tests. Neil Warnock will likely set his team up for damage limitation this weekend and hope to hit Chelsea on the counter. Cardiff look strong at set pieces and coupled with Chelsea’s poor defensive performances, they might sneak a goal.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Hazard looks on fire so far this season and could shine again against Cardiff City. Eden Hazard to score 2 or more is currently 47/20* on Bet UK’s online sportsbook.

Huddersfield v Crystal Palace - Saturday 15th September at 3:00pm

Huddersfield haven’t looked too impressive this season. However 2 defeats and a home draw against Cardiff were overshadowed by an impressive 1-1 draw at Everton last time out. Philip Billing even gave Huddersfield an early lead before a quick equaliser. If anything, Huddersfield will be the side most disappointed with a draw. The Terriers had 6 shots on target but failed to convert their chances.

Crystal Palace has now fell to 3 straight defeats, but will be very disappointed with their defeat to Southampton. Losing 2-0 at home to a winless side is definitely not how Roy Hodgson imagined the match going. Without Zaha, Palace look hopeless going forward. Alexander Sorloth managed to score in the League Cup, but cannot replace Zaha in the league, whilst Christian Benteke is still struggling to find his scoring boots at Selhurst Park.

Bet UK’s Predictions

Without Wilfried Zaha, don’t expect Palace’s start to the season to get any easier. Huddersfield to win 2-1 is 11/1* with Bet UK’s sports betting.

Manchester City v Fulham - Saturday 15th September at 3:00pm

Manchester City continued their strong start to the season against Newcastle, but weren’t as convincing as last season. Following on from their draw at Wolves, City haven’t steamrolled teams as easily as they did in their title winning campaign. They still look very strong, but teams may start to be working out ways to minimise their threats. It’s no surprise that Kevin De Bruyne’s absence is being largely felt by City, with the rest of the team failing to step up so far.

Fulham’s policy of signing almost a full new team is starting to pay off. Jean Michael Seri, Andre Schurrle and Aleksandar Mitrovic are all starting to shine under Slavisa Jokanovic. Last time out, the Cottagers took a 2-0 lead but failed to hold on as Glenn Murray scored twice. If anything, defensively is where Fulham are lacking. They currently have the second worst defence in the league but are also one of the highest scorers. From a neutral point of view, Fulham are definitely one of the most exciting teams to watch.

Bet UK’s Predictions

Both teams can easily score goals, but Fulham’s defence might not hold up. Manchester City to win and both teams to score is currently 11/10* on Bet UK’s online sportsbook.

Newcastle United v Arsenal - Saturday 15th September at 3:00pm

Newcastle’s tough start to the season continues with Arsenal’s visit on Saturday. The Gunners will be Newcastle 4th opponent from last years top 6 in just 5 games, but might be their best chance of picking up points. Against Manchester City, it took a Kyle Walker wonderstruck to beat Benitez’s men, but they still never really threatened. Benitez is known for targeting games in which he feels his team can pick up points, so don’t be surprised if you see a more attacking Newcastle side this week.

Unai Emery’s side are finally kicking into gear after a poor start to the season. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette both managed to get a goal against Cardiff as the front line starts to gel. The defence is still shaky under Emery, but midfielders Guendouzi and Torreira will hopefully sure up the defence when fully ready. Petr Cech has continued to come under criticism as he comes to the end of the career. It remains to be seen when Bernd Leno will be given his debut, but he will surely be looking to get a start this weekend.

Bet UK’s Prediction

After Aubameyang’s first goal against Cardiff, he will be looking to kick his season off. Aubameyang to score first is 11/4* with Bet UK’s sports betting feature. Bet UK also have a price boost for this match, with Arsenal to Win, Aubameyang to Score and 10 or more corners during the match currently being offered with odds of 7/2*.

Watford v Manchester United - Saturday 15th September at 5:30pm

Watford are the surprise package of this Premier League season so far. The Hornets have won all 4 of their matches, including an impressive 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur. Last season’s stars continue to impress, with Doucoure, Holebas and Deeney still some of the first names on the team sheet. Javi Gracia also won Manager of the Month for his side’s impressive run after finally getting the chance to impose his tactics on the squad.

Manchester United may have won their last 2 games, but there is still speculation that Jose Mourinho could lose his job at any point. United will be without Rashford after his red card, as well as Luke Shaw as he recovers from a concussion. Anthony Martial might be handed an opportunity to impress in Rashford’s absence. Shaw hopefully won’t be out for long, but last season’s first choice left back Ashley Young will face competition from Diogo Dalot to replace him.

Bet UK’s Prediction

This is another huge test for Watford and Mourinho, but a draw should suit both sides at this point. 2-2 is currently 13/1* at Bet UK’s online sportsbook, but we also have a number of Bet UK’s Boosts on the game, including Watford to Win, Deeney to Score and 10 or more corners at 12/1*.

Wolves v Burnley - Sunday 16th September at 1:30pm

Wolves got their first Premier League win in nearly 7 years at the London Stadium in their last game. Looking back at how Wolves have performed this season, it’s surprising that they hadn’t picked up a win until now. The newly promoted side have recruited well to add to an already impressive squad. Against Burnley, Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping for another 3 points. Just like last season, Wolves’ threat comes from midfield, but striker Raul Jimenez might grab a goal against Burnley.

Burnley have already played 10 games, including 6 from their failed Europa League campaign. Joe Hart has admitted that the squad is tired and that the European campaign had an effect. Now that they have been knocked out, there is no excuse for Burnley to continue their poor start to the season. Burnley are one of the teams that were least affected by the international break. After 2 weeks training with Dyche, we might see a slightly better performance.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Wolves can look for more goals against a Burnley side that has struggled for any form. Our prediction is Wolves to Win, Over 2.5 Goals and Raul Jimenez to Score, which has been boosted from 5/2 to 11/4* at Bet UK’s online sportsbook.

Everton v West Ham - Sunday 16th September at 4:00pm

Marco Silva will be missing Richarlison for the final match of his suspension. While he is waiting for his Brazilian superstar to return, Silva will surely be hoping that his new signings will be fit to start. Bernard, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes are still yet to start a Premier League game, despite signing over a month ago. If they do start, then Everton should get back to winning ways.

West Ham are in serious trouble this season. The Hammers have lost all 4 games and don’t look like performing anytime soon. Pellegrini has no idea of his best team, his new signings aren’t performing and his tactics just aren’t resonating with the team. The blame has to lie with the players. The board have given Pellegrini money to spend, and there is no doubt that the players have quality. They just aren’t performing when it comes to match day, which must infuriate everyone associated with the club.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Everton will be hoping to get back to winning ways and take advantage of a West Ham side who are low on confidence. Everton to score over 2.5 goals is 3/1* with Bet UK’s online sportsbook. If you fancy Theo Walcott to continue his goalscoring form in fashion, then Theo Walcott to score a hattrick is 100/1* with Bet UK’s Boosts.

Southampton v Brighton - Monday 17th September at 8:00pm

Southampton’s season looked to be heading the same way as last year, but a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace has brought new found confidence to St Mary’s. Danny Ings has been bright spark since signing from Liverpool and has already scored 2 goals. El Younoussi has also shown promising signs following his summer moves. The Norwegian looks to be more than capable of filling the boots left by Dusan Tadic.

Glenn Murray is getting better with age as he continues his goalscoring form. Murray has scored 13 goals in 2018 so far, an impressive return for a 34 year old. His 2 goals brought Brighton back from 2-0 down against Fulham to maintain a steady start to the season. The game against Southampton should be a tight affair and a good test for Brighton. If they can start beating teams around them, then they could improve on their 15th place finish last season.

Bet UK’s Prediction

Both teams have tight defences, but with an in form goalscorer each, there should be a couple of goals. 1-1 is currently 21/4* with Bet UK’s online sportsbook.

Bet UK has a number of football price boosts for all the weekend’s Premier League action, including our enhanced Saturday accumulator. Liverpool, Arsenal & Manchester United all to win is currently 15/2*. Get the latest betting tips and odds for the Premier League at Bet UK throughout the season.
