Liverpool v Tottenham Betting Tips

Liverpool’s perfect record came to an end last weekend, but they’ll be hoping to get back to winning ways against Tottenham at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s men were 1 match away from equalising Man City’s record of 19 consecutive wins, however, they couldn't capitalise when facing the worst Manchester United side of the last 30 years. For Spurs, they’ve struggled to live up to the high expectations they’ve set themselves over the last couple of years. Sitting 7th in the table, and suffering embarrassing defeats in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, it looks like another trophyless season in North London.

Last Time Out For Liverpool

Coming into their match against Man United, the majority of pundits expected Liverpool to extend their Premier League winning record to 19 games. Instead, United put together their best performance in weeks to ensure that Liverpool couldn’t match Man City’s record from 2 seasons ago. Manchester United looked comfortable from the outset and took a surprising lead after 36 minutes. Victor Lindelof took the ball from Divock Origi, fairly in our opinion, before unleashing Daniel James down the right. James played a perfect cross in for Marcus Rashford to deftly touch the ball past Allison. VAR was called into action again when Sadio Mane was judged to have handled the ball on his way to scoring just before the break. United looked like keeping the lead, but Adam Lallana scored a late equaliser in the 86th minute, his first goal in over 2 years. As good as Liverpool have been going forward this year, they have to stop conceding soft goals. They’ve only kept 4 clean sheets from 15 games in all competitions, after keeping clean sheets in over half their games last year.

Tottenham’s Recent Form

Last Time Out For Tottenham

Tottenham continued their disappointing run with a 1-1 draw against Watford. Spurs were poor from the get-go and found themselves 1-0 down after just 6 minutes. Daryl Janmaat’s early cross found Abdoulaye Doucoure at the back post, who easily slotted the ball into the bottom corner. VAR was again caused the main controversy in this match. Both sides were denied penalties but as we’ve seen with VAR, the decisions could have gone either way. The introduction of Heung Min Son at half time changed the game for Spurs. The South Korean immediately putting them on the front foot, but it took until the 86th minute for Spurs’ pressure to pay off. Dele Alli capitalized on a Watford mix up at the back, controlling the ball with his chest before sliding on the half volley to finish into an empty net. The game finished 1-1 with Spurs failing to beat the side at the bottom of the table. With Harry Kane misfiring, Cristian Eriksen’s mind elsewhere and Heung Min-Son not fully fit, it’s hard to see where the goals are going to come from for Spurs.

Spurs To Score Under 0.5 Goals @ 8/5

Where’s The Value Bet?

Liverpool have mainly dominated the last 10 games between the two sides. They have managed to win 5 of those games and have only been beaten once. That includes winning the last 2 Premier League matches, as well as the Champions League Final back in May. So if history is to repeat itself, Liverpool are likely to win. But at such short odds, we’ve looked at Bet UK’s other online betting markets to see what else we could add. In the 28 combined games between these two sides, there have been 98 goals - an average of 3.5 per game. With Liverpool having a point to prove and Tottenham all out of sorts, over 3.5 could be a good shout ahead of this weekend. So, we’ve gone for Liverpool to win and over 3.5 goals @ 43/20 in what should be an exciting game at Anfield.
