Overall Medal Betting

As we head to Tokyo, the one question on everyone’s lips is who will top the medal table come the closing ceremony in August. The USA topped the podium at Rio in 2016 with a combined tally of 121 medals, and it’s expected they’ll do the same here in 2021. But Team GB always seem to be near the top spot, and we have odds of 33/1 for them to finish with the most Golds and 50/1 to top the overall rankings.

Nation With The Most Gold Medals

Team Odds
USA 1/10
China 6/1
Great Britain 33/1
Japan 33/1
Russian OC 33/1

Team GB Medal Hopes

Jade Jones - Taekwondo After claiming gold in 2012 and 2016 at the Olympic games, Taekwondo superstar Jade Jones has the chance to make history in Tokyo as the first female British athlete to win titles in three consecutive games. The No.1 seed in the -57kg division, she is also the current reigning world champion, so with a lot of pressure on the 28-year-old Welsh Taekwondoists shoulders, will she rise to the challenge?

Liam Heath - Canoe We’re heading to the water for our next Team GB medal hope with Liam Heath. The Sprint Canoeist is the reigning Olympic champion following his victory in Rio. He is also the current holder of the World’s fastest time in the K1 200m, so it’s expected he’ll do well again in Tokyo.

Dina Asher-Smith - Athletics Perhaps Team GB’s best hope for a medal on the track Dina Asher-Smith is the current 200m world champion. A triple gold medalist at the European Championships back in 2018, she seems to be in top form heading to Tokyo, where she’ll feature in both the 100m and 200m looking to see off Gabby Thomas and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

Olympic Rugby 7s Preview

Men’s Rugby 7s Betting Preview

After making its debut in 2016, Rugby 7s returns to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Calendar. Fiji sits atop the betting market at odds of 7/2, and it’s expected Jerry Tuwai will have his eyes on a gold medal. However, one team that has undergone a massive resurgence within the game is the USA, thanks to wingers Carlin Isles and Perry Baker. Both players are packed full of pace, and we expect to see them on the medal podium come the final in August.

Women’s Rugby 7s Betting Preview

Although Australia are the reigning champions of the Olympic Rugby 7s, it’s neighbours New Zealand who lead the betting market at odds of 7/20. Portia Woodman, Ruby Tui and Tyla Nathan-Wong are all expected to play a part in the All Blacks team who were narrowly beaten in 2016 and will be looking for the chance to win that all-important Gold medal.
