Millwall v Swansea City Press Conference Quick Read

Graham Potter has gave his pre match press conference ahead of this weekend’s game away at Millwall. The Swans manager was asked about everything from the latest injuries, his reaction to the Crystal Palace defeat and the latest on any transfer updates. Bet UK has picked out the key quotes from the press conference so you can get the latest updates directly from Graham Potter.

Potter’s Reaction To Crystal Palace Defeat

Swansea’s 0-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Tuesday might have seen them knocked out the Carabao Cup, but the Swans can certainly take some positives from the game. Potter told reporters, “I’m disappointed with the result, of course, you don’t want to lose and go out. But, the evening itself was a positive one.”

Tuesday night’s game saw a number of younger players handed an opportunity to impress at the Liberty Stadium, and Potter was delighted with the way the team handled themselves.

“It’s good to see such a young team playing, and in the manner they played, it was really encouraging. They showed courage, work ethic and quality. The team created some chances and in the end, we were unlucky not to put some of them away, but that’s football, there was still a lot of good signs.”

Swansea City Injury Updates

There are a few Swans players who are fighting to be fit ahead of the Millwall game, with Graham Potter facing some tough selections.

“Leroy is available. We’ve also got Tom (Carroll), Matt (Grimes) and Byers, who played well on Tuesday, so we’ve got options in midfield.

When asked about new signing Cameron Carter-Vickers, Potters told reporters, “It’s his first week of training. He had a couple of weeks away with a problem at Tottenham, but he has trained this week. A decision will be made ahead of the weekend, but he will be in the squad.”

Swans fans were also worried about Oli McBurnie after his early withdrawal against Bristol City, but Potter was quick to calm any fears.

“Oli is fine, he trained today. We held him back at the start of the week, but he is ready and available. He is there for selection”

Swansea City Transfer Updates

The transfer window is coming to a close on Friday, with Swansea looking like their business might be done for now. Potter told reporters it was time to focus on the players that he had at his disposal.

“My job is to be as positive as I can and help the guys here as best as I can. I want to put a team on the pitch that people can get behind”

“Fundamentally, I’m in this job to coach and improve players, to get them to another level in their career and improve Swansea City. For now, we have the players that we have, and we will continue to work, and work ahead of the next transfer window.”

Potter Looks Ahead To Millwall

Millwall is a traditionally tough place to play in the Championship, with one of the most hostile atmospheres in English football. Potter is well aware of the challenges his team faces, but is looking for a strong response.

“It is a tough game, you can see how well they do with the success they had last season. They are well organised and well drilled, certainly at home. But we need to respond after the disappointment against Bristol.”

“We have had a week where we have allowed players to recover and we want to finish this block of games before the international break on a positive note.”
