Manchester City v Chelsea Betting Tips and Preview
Manchester City take on Chelsea on Sunday, with Pep Guardiola’s men hoping to keep the pressure on Liverpool in the Premier League. City’s poor form around Christmas let Liverpool create a 7 point lead, but City’s experience could prove vital in the run in. After rumours throughout January, Maurizio Sarri has signed Gonzalo Higuain as he looks for the final piece for his Chelsea team. After 2 goals in his home debut, the signs are looking promising for Chelsea’s return to the top 4.

Last Time Out In The Premier League
Man City bounced back from their shock defeat at Newcastle with an impressive 3-1 win over Arsenal. After scoring after 24 seconds at St James Park, Sergio Aguero made City fans wait a bit longer before opening the scoring after 46 seconds against Arsenal. City attacked from the opening whistle and as Arsenal failed to clear their lines, Aguero scored with a low diving header. Just 10 minutes later, Laurent Koscielny scored his first goal in just over a year after Lucas Torreira’s corner was flicked on. Aguero restored City’s lead with another goal just before the break. Ilkay Gundogan’s lofted pass was expertly crossed to the back post by Raheem Sterling, with Aguero finishing into an empty net. Aguero completed his hattrick with a controversial finish that clearly hit the Argentine on the hand before crossing the line. City’s win keeps them in second on 59 points, although still chasing Liverpool for the title.
Chelsea Premier League Form
Last Time Out In The Premier League
After an embarrassing 4-0 loss in midweek, Chelsea recovered with a 5-0 demolition of Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge. New signing Gonzalo Higuain opened the scoring early on, latching onto N’golo Kante’s through ball before lashing the ball past Jonas Lossl at his near post. Chelsea looked in the mood and were given the chance to double their lead before half time when Elias Kachunga fouled Cesar Azpilicueta in the area. Eden Hazard duly obliged and added a third after 66 minutes, taking the ball around Lossl before finishing from a tight angle. 3 minutes later, Higuain scored the best goal of the match with a long range curling effort into the top corner. David Luiz made it 5 late on with a header from Willian’s corner. Chelsea’s win moved them back into 4th on 50 points, 2 points ahead of Manchester United in 5th.
Manchester City v Chelsea Head To Head Record
Manchester City Wins - 55
Draws - 39
Chelsea Wins - 67
Despite Manchester City’s dominance of the Premier League in recent years, Chelsea seem to be a team that City don’t always feel comfortable against. These two sides got the season underway in the Community Shield, with City winning 2-0 thanks to an Aguero double. That scoreline was reversed when Chelsea beat City in December to end their unbeaten start to the season, a defeat that started a poor run for the Champions. In last year’s fixture at the Etihad, Bernardo Silva’s early second half goal separated the sides as City’s title win was almost confirmed.

Manchester City looked back to their best against Arsenal and against a Chelsea defence that has its faults, don’t be surprised if City run riot again.
