Manchester City v Arsenal Betting Tips and Preview
After a shock defeat at Newcastle United, Manchester City will be looking to bounce back with a win to catch up to Liverpool in the Premier League title race. They face an Arsenal side who continue to win, but are starting to look less than convincing with injuries piling up. If Manchester City win, they could keep the pressure up on Liverpool who have shown signs of faltering under pressure.

Manchester City’s 22 match unbeaten run against Newcastle ended on Tuesday night as Pep Guardiola’s side fell to a 2-1 defeat at St James’ Park. City got off to the perfect start with a goal after just 24 seconds. A hopeful ball from Sterling to the back post wasn't dealt with by Martin Dubravka, and the ball was poked in from Sergio Aguero after David Silva’s cutback. A disallowed goal after 16 minutes was the closest City came to a second goal as Newcastle grew into the game. In the second half, Newcastle grabbed their equaliser through Salomon Rondon. After clearing a cross, City’s defence fell asleep and left Rondon free in space to finish past Ederson after Isaac Hayden sent the ball back into the box. 10 minutes later, Fernandinho lost the ball and fouled Sean Longstaff in the area to hand Newcastle the perfect chance to win. Despite a 3 minute wait, Matt Ritchie hammered the penalty home to complete Newcastle’s turnaround. City pressed for their equaliser, but Newcastle’s 5 man defence handled everything that was thrown their way. City are now 5 points behind Liverpool in 2nd place.

On an emotional night at the Emirates, Arsenal won 2-1 against a struggling Cardiff side. A makeshift Arsenal defence easily could have been behind to the Bluebirds early on. Bobby Reid’s half volley went just wide, before Sol Bamba arguable could have has a penalty. It was Arsenal who would get their penalty however, with Bruno Ecuele Manga fouling Sead Kolasinac on the hour mark. In form Pierre Emerick Aubameyang went straight down the middle with the penalty for his 15th league goal of the season. Lacazette doubled the lead late on, picking the ball up just inside Arsenal’s half, before sprinting into the Cardiff box and firing past Neil Etheridge. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing added a late consolation for Cardiff, but it was too late to mount a comeback. Arsenal moved back up to 4th with the win, above Chelsea on goal difference.
Manchester City v Arsenal Head To Head Record
Manchester City Wins - 54 Draws - 45 Arsenal Wins - 96
Although the overall record might not show it, this is a fixture that has largely been dominated by Manchester City in recent years. Unsurprisingly, before City’s 2008 takeover, Arsenal won 17 of the previous 19 game, but it has been a different story recently. In the last 10 matches, City have won 5, scoring an impressive 19 goals in the process. 4 of those 5 wins have come in the last 4 meetings between the sides. An aggregate score of 11-1 sums up City’s dominance so expect them to score plenty again this weekend.
