Liverpool vs. Bayern Munich Champions League Betting Preview
Two former Champions League winners clash at Anfield in the first leg of the last-16 tie. Liverpool made it to the final in 2018 with Bayern crashing out as Liverpool took on Real Madrid in an epic final that saw trials and tribulations.
Liverpool Betting Odds
Red's Boss Jurgen Klopp is no stranger to German football having had an illustrious career with Borussia Dortmund winning the league twice. Looking at the form between the two sides it suggests there is little to pick between. Both teams sit in second place with only one loss in their last six games. You would have to say that the fearsome front three of Salah, Mane and Firmino is a source of worry for Bayern's defence, but at the same time Liverpool's back line is also a concern. Van Dijk is unavailable with Gomez and Lovren also out. We expect the front three to run riot against Bayern. Liverpool have also had a 10-day break giving Klopp chance to take the team to a warm country and do some training, working on tactics and resting up.
Bayern Munich Betting Odds
Liverpool have a quality front three but Robert Lewandowski is a prolific finisher who has a wealth of experience in top competitions and against an underwhelming back line could cause the Reds problems. Bayern are also unbeaten on the road in the Champions League with a string of six games, which they have only ever done once back in 2012. Kovac's side are still in the mix for the German Cup but are also nine points adrift in the league against Borussia Dortmund. The main focus for the German team is the Champions League and they are heavily fancied, as they have gone unbeaten in the group stages too.
Head To Head
Both teams have only met six times in previous European competitions back in 2001. Liverpool won the match 3-2 but both teams are very different with the game and the playing styles on a different level.
Bet UK Tips
Liverpool's front three will be the difference here. With 10-days layoff and rest with the home atmosphere I expect every player to pull their weight. It seems that Liverpool can sometimes struggle getting players back and with a makeshift backline it's even more crucial for the team to move back and forth as a unit. Bayern will go for it and try to get that away goal, which I believe they will get but Liverpool will outscore the German side.
