Fighting Fight Hurdle Betting Preview

The first stop on our tour of UK horse racing is Newcastle, as it hosts one of the premier National Hunt races of the season, the Fighting Fifth Hurdle. A key filter race for the 2022 Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, former winners of this race include Buveur D’Air, My Tent Or Yours and most recently Epatante.

It seems as though Epatante will be back to defend his crown once again with Sceau Royal once again linking up to try and take the crown for trainer Alan King. Epatante will likely line up against a maximum of six rivals, with Silver Streak and Monmiral also expected to make the journey to Newcastle for the race.

Looking at the form across the racecard and the previous form, which includes runs at the Kempton Winter Festival and at Cheltenham, we’re going for Silver Streak to put his two-mile form on the line and take the victory for trainer Evan Williams.

Elsewhere at Newcastle, there are six other races on the card, three of which will feature on ITV, and for those races, we’ve picked out our betting tips below:

Time Race Horse Odds
11:45 Juvenile Hurdle Too Friendly 5/4
12:20 Handicap Chase Luck Of The Draw 3/1
12:55 Novices’ Hurdle Captain Quint 15/2
1:30 Handicap Chase Cooper’s Cross 10/3
2:05 Handicap Chase Good Boy Bobby 13/2
2:40 Maiden Hurdle Parisencore 5/2
3:15 Fighting Fifth Hurdle Silver Streak 8/1

Ladbrokes Trophy Chase Betting Tips

The next destination for our UK horse racing preview is Newbury, where the highlight race is the Ladbrokes Trophy Chase. Contested over three miles, this race is also a feeder race for the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National with runners such as Cloth Cap and Mister Malarky often having an early-season run here.

A race for horses aged four and over, previous form over chase fences is an advantage here as is a race already under their belt this season. With that in mind, we’re going for a horse from the Irish contingent in the form of Eklat De Rire. Trained by Henry De Bromhead, he has quite the partnership with Rachel Blackmore, where they have won four of their last five outings in Ireland.

Bet on Eklat De Rire @ 6/1

As well as the premier race at Newbury, there are also three other feature races on ITV and six races across the racecard, all of which will have runners who could potentially head to the 2022 Cheltenham Festival.

Time Race Horse Odds
12:10 Mares’ Novices Hurdle Nina The Terrier 13/8
12:40 Novices’ Chase Flash Collonges 5/1
1:15 Handicap Chase Kalooki 11/2
1:50 Handicap Hurdle Calva D’Auge 5/1
2:25 Intermediate Hurdle Onemorefortheroad 4/1
3:00 Trophy Chase Eklat De Rire 9/2
3:35 Handicap Chase Grey Diamond 9/2
