Colombia v Chile Copa America Betting Tips

The Copa America knockout stages are underway and the highlight of the round is Colombia v Chile in Sao Paulo. Colombia have won all 3 games so far in the tournament and rightfully come into the match as favourites. But in Chile, they face a side who has often stepped up in the Copa America. Chile are two time defending champions after winning in 2015 and 2016. They came into this tournament as outsiders, but have already shown that they might have enough to make their way to another Copa America title.

Colombia’s Recent International Form

How They Reached The Quarter Final

Despite being in Group B along with Argentina, Colombia comfortable finished top of their group with 9 points. They opened up their campaign against Argentina, the toughest opponent in their group and came away with the win. They held Messi and Co for 70 minutes, before Roger Martinez and Duvan Zupata scored late on to give Colombia the 2-0 win. They came up against a Qatar side who proved just as tough a test as Argentina did in the game before. The honorary side held the Colombian’s for 86 minutes, before another late Zupata goal ensured qualification from Group B. For their final Group B game, Colombia rested most of their squad but still managed a 1-0 win over Paraguay to keep them at the top of the group. So far, Colombia’s defence led by Yerry Mina and Davison Sanchez has been inpenetrable, and they have kept clean sheets in the last 4 matches for their national side.

Colombia To Keep A Clean Sheet - 13/10

Chile - 13/5 To Win

Chile’s Recent International Form

How They Reached The Quarter Final

Chile have struggled on the international stage in recent years and weren’t necessarily fancied to make it through Group C. They started their campaign as strongly as anyone, with a 4-0 win over a young Japan side. Eduardo Vargas and Alexis Sanchez both scored in the match, despite both coming into criticism recently for failing to perform for Chile. Sanchez’s strong start continued with the winning goal in a 2-1 win over Ecuador, meaning the final game against Uruguay would decide who won Group C. With 10 minutes left, the game was 0-0 and Chile were set to win the Group and set up a much easier draw against Peru. But, Edinson Cavani scored a late winner and sent Chile back down to second. Sanchez has stepped his game up again for Chile, even after an awful season for Man United. His country will need him for the quarter finals and expect him to step up again.
