Europa League Betting Tips
In a week in which sport around the world has been affected by COVID-19, the Europa League still continues to go ahead. Even with some games suspended, there are plenty of British teams in action, although behind closed doors. From the games that are on, we’ve picked out a 4/1 win treble. For the latest football betting odds for all Europa League matches, make sure to head over to Bet UK’s online betting.
Istanbul Basaksehir got through their tie with Sporting Lisbon thanks to a 119th minute penalty, securing a 5-4 win on aggregate. That might not sound promising ahead of the round of 16, but they won’t face half the challenge when they play Copenhagen. Istanbul are one of the in form teams around Europe. Since losing their opening 2 games, Istanbul Basaksehir have only lost once in the league. In Europe, they finished top of a group that included Roma and Borussia Monchengladbach, before that remarkable comeback against Sporting Lisbon. For Copenhagen, it’s been a disappointing season. Domestically, they are 12 points behind Midtjylland. They faced a favourable draw in the Europa League Group Stage, before an impressive win over Celtic. But, that scoreline flattered Copenhagen as the Scots fell apart in the last 10 minutes. As long as Istanbul field a strong line up and all perform as expected, this should be an easy win against Copenhagen and the whole tie could be over.
Despite the game being played behind closed doors, Manchester United are still heading to Austria to take on LASK. On the face of things, most Man United fans would have been delighted to draw LASK. But, they have faced some tough teams on their run to the round of 16. They won Group D alongside Sporting Lisbon, PSV and Rosenborg, before knocking out AZ Alkmaar in the first knockout round. Manchester United should still be confident however, especially given their recent form. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are unbeaten since 22nd January on a run that includes 2 wins against Manchester City. The signing of Bruno Fernandes has completely saved United’s season, allowing the rest of the team to open up. The Portuguese playmaker has 3 goals and 3 assists since coming to England, but his influence is far stronger than that. As long as he plays to his potential, it’s tough to see United throwing away this game.
Eintracht Frankfurt comfortably got through their tie with Red Bull Salzburg and will be thankful that the Swiss side had lost 2 of its stars. Regardless of the absence of Haaland and Minamino, Frankfurt were still completely deserving of their win on aggregate. A 4-1 win at home was followed by a battling 2-2 draw that saw loanee Andre Silva grab a welcome brace. For Basel, they played an uninspiring APOEL side that has fallen massively from grace since they were regulars in the Champions League. Basel dominated over the two legs but it’s tough to see how good they actually are, as they didn’t face a challenge. Domestically, they are dealing with postponed matches and it’s 2 weeks since they last played. That could mean Basel get off to a slow start and with Frankfurt still in full flow, we predict them to grab a couple of early goals and win this first leg.
