Europa League Round of 32 Betting Tips
After two nights of Champions League action, it’s time for the Europa League to take centre stage on Thursday night. We’re into the Round of 32, and with teams dropping down from the Champions League, it makes for some exciting matchups. Manchester United dominated the first leg against a strong Real Sociedad side. Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James all scored in a 4-0 win in Turin. The lack of a home advantage might have played a part in Real Sociedad’s downfall. Considering how well Manchester United performed on neutral ground, it should be an even better performance on home soil. There’s an argument to suggest Man United won’t field their strongest XI with such a strong advantage, but can we really expect Sociedad to field a full-strength team with so little chance of qualification? Regardless, 49/50 for Man United to win looks like incredible value.
PSV come into the second leg following a 4-2 defeat in Greece last week. Although the scoreline isn’t flattering, the 2 away goals give PSV more than a fighting chance of qualification. In 14 home games this season, PSV have lost just twice, conceding only 9 goals. Considering 3 of those came in a single poor performance, there’s every chance that PSV will keep a clean sheet on Thursday. Olympiakos might have dropped down from the Champions League, but in 4 European away games this season, the Greek giants have scored just once. All of the stats suggest this tie isn’t over, so 5/2 for PSV to qualify is definitely one to look at.
Leicester City would have been disappointed with their 0-0 draw in the first leg against Slavia Prague. Despite having most of the ball, Leicester managed just 1 shot on target. Given that the Foxes fielded a full-strength lineup, Brendan Rodgers would have been expecting much more. Slavia Prague certainly aren’t to be underestimated, but Leicester should be more than capable of winning. They are unbeaten at home in the Europa League and have won their 3 games with an aggregate score of 9-0. Considering Leicester’s ambitions, anything less than a win would be a failure, and we fully expect them to make the round of 16.
