England v Czech Republic Euro 2020 Betting Tips
In the final game of Group D, England take on the Czech Republic at Wembley. Both sides know that a draw will secure their place in the knockout rounds, but there is still an advantage to going for a win here. Similar to the 2018 World Cup, there seems to be an easy and a hard side of the knockout stages. Ahead of the rest of Euro 2020, you can get the latest football betting odds with Bet UK’s online sportsbook.
England’s Recent International Form
Last Time Out For England
It was a brutal outing for England as they drew 0-0 with rivals Scotland at Wembley. In a game in which they were expected to dominate, they were completely toothless and should have been beaten by Scotland. John Stones missed an open header from 6 yards out after 10 minutes, which turned out to be England’s best chance of the game. Harry Kane continued to come far too deep to get involved in the action, leaving England without a striker whenever Sterling or Foden did manage to get on the ball. That was the case against Croatia, but the point was exacerbated against Scotland. If England are to have any success in this tournament, they need to make sure Harry Kane is the focal point of all their attacks. We suspect that will be the case against Czech Republic as they try to get their star man up and running.
Czech Republic’s Recent International Form
Last Time Out For Czech Republic
The Czech Republic secured their spot in the knockout rounds with a 1-1 draw with Croatia last Friday. It was a game that either side could have won, but it’s the Czech’s who are far happier with the result. Patrick Schick was again the hero for the Czech Republic. He scored a penalty for his 3rd goal of the tournament, following an opening game brace against Scotland. Ivan Perisic scored an equaliser that should have really been saved, but the draw sets the Czech Republic up perfectly ahead of this game. Outside of Patrick Schick, the Czech’s have been relatively unthreatening going forward. But, they have been fairly resolute at the back. With just 1 goal conceded so far, then another Czech clean sheet wouldn’t be too surprising.
Where’s the Value Bet?
We’ve already hinted towards where we’ll be going for our value bet. England have been awful going forward, and have only had a couple of memorable chances so far in Euro 2020. With Harry Kane misfiring and no creativity in midfield, England are struggling to pick apart teams. However, they have also defended well and Jordan Pickford has stood up to any slight challenge he has faced so far. For the Czechs, Patrick Schick is the tournament top scorer, but they have very little other threat. They are also another side that has defended well, only conceding once following a goalkeeper error against Croatia. With all this being said, goals won’t exactly be forthcoming in this game. Odds of 9/1 for 0-0 seem to be far too high after looking back at the tournament so far, so we’re backing this game to finish goalless.
Bet UK’s Headline Betting Tip
At Bet UK, we’re obviously backing England to get a result on Tuesday night. But, if they are going to win, then it’s going to be tougher than most people expect. We think it’ll be a tight game that England will eventually win thanks to their attacking talent.
