Borussia Dortmund v Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips
Tottenham head over to Germany looking to tie up their Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund. After a commanding 3-0 win at Wembley, Spurs might just need one away goal to ensure that they advance to the quarter finals for the first time since 2011. Neither side have impressed since they last met but will be hoping to improve on European football’s biggest stage.

Dortmund’s Recent Form
Since The First Leg
As many predicted a few months ago, Dortmund’s season has started to go off the boil. BVB have thrown away a 7 point lead over rivals Bayern Munich and are now level on points, still sitting top of the Bundesliga, but only on goal difference. Since the 3-0 defeat at Wembley, Dortmund have won once, drew once and lost once. They started with a 0-0 draw away at bottom side Nurnberg, a team that looks destined to go down this year. A 3-2 win against Bayer Leverkusen papered over some cracks, although it was arguably an undeserved win. Leverkusen had more shots, more possession and dominated play without finishing Dortmund off. Finally against Augsburg last Friday, BVB dominated but couldn’t score until late on. 2 goals from ex-Sunderland striker Ji Dong-won led Augsburg to a 2-1 win, despite Paco Alcacer’s late consolation. Dortmund will be hoping to rescue this tie at the Westfalenstadion, but it might be a blessing in disguise for them to leave the Champions League to focus on the Bundesliga.

Tottenham’s Recent Form
Since The First Leg
Similarly to Dortmund, Tottenham have struggled since the first leg of this Champions League tie. After their 3-0 win over Dortmund, Tottenham’s realistic title challenge was again being discussed, but consecutive defeats to Burnley and Chelsea have all but confirmed that Tottenham can only hope for a top 4 finish. Against Burnley, Tottenham struggled to deal with a physical side, despite Harry Kane’s goal scoring return. Against Chelsea it was a different story, with Spurs failing to register a single shot on target throughout the game. Despite having more of the ball against a typically possession heavy Chelsea, Kieran Tripper’s late own goal condemned Spurs’ to a 2-0 defeat. Even in their 1-1 draw in the North London Derby on Saturday, Tottenham were lucky to escape with a point. Arsenal took an early lead through Aaron Ramsey, before Harry Kane scored a penalty with 15 minutes left. In the final minute, Hugo Lloris’ saved a Pierre Emerick Aubameyang penalty to secure the point for Tottenham, on a day when a loss could have derailed a whole season.
What Do The Stats Say?
Despite Borussia Dortmund’s recent poor form, they have to be considered strong favourites at home. In just 17 competitive fixtures at the Westfalenstadion, Dortmund have scored 53 goals, an average of 3.11 per game. Combine that with Tottenham’s poor away form and it looks like Dortmund have a chance of turning this tie around. Spurs have lost their last 4 away games in all competitions and are without an away win since 20th January against Fulham. To add to Tottenham’s woes, Dortmund are unbeaten in 90 minutes at home this season after 17 matches, and have only been beaten twice at home since Tottenham’s last visit to Germany.
Bet UK’s Headline Betting Tip
Although we all expect Dortmund to win this one, I think Tottenham might nick a late goal that will ensure they go through to the quarter finals.
