Premier League Darts Betting Tips Night 2 - Glasgow

Premier League Darts Betting Tips & Preview: Night 2 - Glasgow

After a spectacular opening week of the 2019 Premier League Darts in Newcastle upon Tyne last week, 10 of the best darts players on the planet roll into Glasgow for what promises to be a night full of exceptional arrows action.

The “contenders” format that saw 9 outsiders drafted in to replace the injured Gary Anderson took a lot of criticism before a dart was thrown, but the stunning performance of Chris Dobey in front of a hometown crowd silenced a lot of the critics.

This week it is the turn of Glen Durrant, the reigning BDO World Darts Champion, who made his switch to the PDC in January after qualifying for a Tour Card through Q School. He takes on Daryl Gurney who struggled to defeat on the opening night.

Here are our darts betting tips for The 2019 Premier League Darts Night 2 in Glasgow.

Where Is The Value?

JAMES WADE to beat ROB CROSS - 7/4*

James Wade To Win 7/4*

Darts is all about form, and there is only one player in this match that has been picking up good results over the last few months and that man is James Wade. Winning back to back TV titles was a great achievement, and The Machine has also won 4 of his last 6 matches in all competitions, with one of those defeats being in The Masters final against the World Champion Michael van Gerwen.

Rob Cross, on the other hand, has only won 2 of his last 6 matches and could only manage a draw with Peter Wright in the Premier League opener. Since winning the 2018 World Darts Championship things have just not gone Rob Cross’ way. James Wade also won the last time these two players met back in October, which was a 6-3 victory on the European Tour.

Wade defeated Raymond van Barneveld in a hard-fought contest last week and the good thing for the Aldershot thrower is that he is winning matches without necessarily playing well. Bet UK believe he is good value to win this contest at darts betting odds of 7/4*.

DRAW - 4/1*

180s Last Week:
Rob Cross - 2
James Wade - 4

Rob Cross is usually more of a big 180 hitter than Wade but was missing the target more frequently last week and Wade was a bit more on form. 4/1* looks like good value for both players to hit the same number of 180s in the match.

Other Premier League Darts Predictions - Night Two Glasgow

Peter Wright vs Michael Smith

Michael Smith To Win 6/5*

Michael Smith gave a good account of himself on night one against the defending Premier League Champion MVG, in what was a repeat of the last World Darts Championship and Premier League finals, but ultimately came up short in a 7-5 defeat. Peter Wright battled to a 6-6 draw against Rob Cross in an absorbing contest but both players will know they can play better.

Peter Wright has the better head to head record but lost 7-1 to Michael Smith twice during last year’s Premier League and it would not be a huge surprise to see something similar this time around. We don’t think it will be quite that emphatic but we are predicting Bully Boy Michael Smith to claim the two points with a victory.

180s Last Week:
Peter Wright - 3
Michael Smith - 2

Michael Smith only hitting two 180s last week is more of an anomaly than a trend, and it may even have meant that his odds to hit the most 180s this week have improved. The big 180 hitter could be back to form this Thursday.

Raymond van Barneveld vs Gerwyn Price

TIP: DRAW - 33/10*

Draw 33/10*

It is no secret that Raymond van Barneveld has had a tough time of things on the oche recently, with many fans suggesting he should not have even been picked to play in this year’s Premier League. Barney put on a solid performance in Newcastle though and only lost due to missing too many attempts at a double, only landing 4 from 13 attempts (30%).

There were major question marks about Gerwyn Price following his massive fine for the antics in the Grand Slam of Darts, but he came out and played his normal game to perfection against Daryl Gurney and claimed a 7-4 victory. Celebrations were still there but not in the general direction of his opponent, which is an improvement. This is a tough game to call as Barney is out of form but really needs to put in a big performance to kick start his final ever Premier League Darts campaign but Gerwyn Price is starting to play well. Here at Bet UK we are going for a draw in this one.

180s Last Week:
Raymond van Barneveld - 4
Gerwyn Price - 6

Both players were handy with their maximum hitting in Newcastle but once Gerwyn Price gets his rhythm going it is difficult to outscore him, so we fancy the Welshman to hit the most 180s at odds of 6/5*.

Daryl Gurney vs Glen Durrant

Glen Durrant to win - 27/20*

On the evidence of Chris Dobey’s performance in Newcastle, the contenders look like they may throw a spanner or two in the works for the other 9 players. In Glasgow, it is the turn of Glen Durrant just a few weeks after the BDO World Champ has joined the PDC. This will be an incredible occasion for Duzza, as the man from Middlesbrough steps up to face Daryl Gurney.

Glen Durrant will be happy with his form going into this game too, as he reached the final of the Players Championship 2 event on Sunday as part of a fantastic run. This will not be a hometown crowd like it was for Dobey last week, but being on the big stage in a PDC event has made years of hard work worth it. We expect Durrant to flourish in this environment and claim a victory against a woefully out of form Superchin.

180s Last Week:
Daryl Gurney - 0
Glen Durrant - N/A

As evidence of just how out of form Daryl Gurney is, he failed to hit a single maximum last week even though he had a decent 3 dart average of 98. Glen Durrant has obviously not played a Premier League match before, but he is a good maximum hitter on his day.

Mensur Suljovic vs Michael van Gerwen

MVG to win - 1/3*

Michael van Gerwen is very much back in form after claiming his third World title on New Years Day, so much so that it seems like a massive outside chance for any of the challengers in the Premier League to beat him. The Dutchman will be hoping to maintain the level that saw him beat Michael Smith last week as well as hit a 9 darter in the Players Championship at the weekend.

Mensur Suljovic started terribly against stand-in Chris Dobey last week but battled back to claim a 6-6 draw. The Austrian will be going into this contest as a massive underdog and if offered a draw before the match it’s very likely he would take it. We expect Michael van Gerwen to ease to victory in this one though.

180s Last Week:
Mensur Suljovic - 5
Michael van Gerwen - 5

Whether MVG is under pressure or not, he has always been a huge 180 scorer and it is likely that this will continue in Glasgow. Mensur’s good 180 performance last week was a necessity, as he had to claw back into the match from 5-1 down. MVG to hit the most 180s at darts odds of 1/2* is our tip.
