Premier League Darts Tips: Night 10 - Belfast
Raymond van Barneveld said goodbye to Premier League Darts (and briefly his entire career) last week in Rotterdam, so the remaining eight players in the competition power on to cross the Irish sea into Belfast. It is extremely tight at the top, as Michael van Gerwen only leads Rob Cross thanks to leg difference. Michael Smith and Peter Wright also meet in a bottom of the table clash, with each knowing that one win could put them right back into contention.

Where Is The Value?
We have said this a number of times over the last few weeks, but James Wade is back on form. Last week in Rotterdam saw a classy Wade see off the challenge of Michael Smith by seven legs to four. The Machine’s average in the match was an impressive 102.44 and even though he only hit two 180s, his scoring was impressive. It was undoubtedly the expert finishing that won him the match though, landing 7/11 of his checkout attempts (63.64%).
Mensur Suljovic is almost impossible to predict at this point. The Austrian seems to fluctuate massively in terms of his results from week to week, and it makes our predictions a lot tougher. Last week in the Rotterdam double header it was a mixed bag, as we’ve come to expect. He beat Rob Cross and then lost convincingly to Daryl Gurney. This time around, we believe James Wade will get the better of him, even though The Gentle does have a positive winning record in this particular fixture.
Other Premier League Darts Betting Predictions - Night 10:
Michael Smith vs Peter Wright
Here are two more players that just can’t seem to get into a winning run of form. That explains why they currently prop up the Premier League Darts table, with Michael Smith in 8th and Peter Wright one point and one place better off in 7th. Smith will be relieved that Judgement Night is over and relegation is a thing of the past, which may mean he can play with the pressure off a little bit. This would definitely suit his game, as he has all of the natural talent in the world but does sometimes struggle when the pressure is on.
As a traditionally big scorer, Smith may be a little bit disappointed to be five tournament 180s behind the leader Gerwyn Price. Averaging 3.11 180s per match, Bully Boy will hope to increase that this time around. Peter Wright goes into this match on the back of two defeats in Rotterdam, 1-7 to van Gerwen and 5-7 to Price. We don’t think it is going to get much better for the Scotsman this time either, as Bet UK are predicting Michael Smith to claim the full 2 points.
Rob Cross vs Daryl Gurney
Rob Cross will feel as if he can truly challenge for the Premier League Darts title this time around, as he is currently pushing MVG to his limit in terms of finishing top of the league phase. It has not all been smooth sailing, as evidenced by the defeat to Mensur Suljovic last week, but he bounced back immediately the following night with a 7-4 triumph over Jeffrey de Zwaan hitting eight maximums in the process, the highest number from any player in a single match so far.
Daryl Gurney is bound to be on cloud nine at the moment, having won both his Premier League contests in Rotterdam and the European Tour event at the weekend. That success saw the Northern Irishman move up to 3rd in the PDC Order of Merit for the first time in his career, surpassing both Gary Anderson and Peter Wright. Returning to his home country will be something to remember. His opponent this week is still 2nd in the world though, and we believe Rob Cross will edge what should be a high-quality contest and silence the crowd for a second week running. Voltage can be backed at odds of 20/21*.
Michael van Gerwen vs Gerwyn Price
Michael van Gerwen will not enjoy having Rob Cross breathing down his neck in the Premier League Darts table, and will be looking to get the most emphatic victory possible in Belfast against his antagonising opponent Gerwyn Price. The Welshman has been on a strange run of form in this competition, starting extremely strongly and then dropping away over the last few weeks. A much-needed win over Peter Wright last Thursday was welcomed, though he was far from his best with an average of 94.47. This put the Welshman back up to 6th, two points off the top four.
A sharp reminder, if it is needed, that Gerwyn Price has never beaten Michael van Gerwen in a professional darts match and he will have a mammoth uphill task if he is to do so in Belfast. MVG unsurprisingly won both of his matches last week in his home country of The Netherlands, both by a 7-1 scoreline against Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld. Bet UK are backing the Green Machine to be triumphant again this time around, at odds of 10/31*.
