Brazil - 11/10 To Win

Manager - Tite
Star Player - Gabriel Jesus
World Ranking - 3rd
Best Copa America Performance - Winners (1919, 1922, 1949, 1989, 1997, 1999, 2004, 2007)

Summary

Brazil are the hosts of the 2019 Copa America and unsurprisingly comes into the tournament as 11/10 favourites. Despite Neymar having to pull out through injury, the Brazilian’s can still boast a squad with plenty of trophies. 15 of their 23 man squad won a trophy last season in Europe. Brazil have been weak in defence in the last few years, ever since their 7-1 defeat to Germany in the 2014 World Cup. But with younger players like Eder Militao and Marquinhos now in the fold, as well as either Allison of Ederson in goal, expect them to be a lot more disciplined. Going forward, Brazil are exciting as ever with Jesus, Willian, Coutinho and Firmino among their forward line. Expect them to blow their way through the group stage and go far in the tournament.

Bolivia - 66/1 To Win

Manager - Eduardo Villegas
Star Player - Marcelo Martins
World Ranking - 63rd
Best Copa America Performance - Winners (1963)

Summary

Realistically, it will take 3 very strong performances for Bolivia to make their way into the knockout stages. Since finishing as runners up in 1997, Bolivia have only won 1 game in 7 Copa Americas and it would be a surprise if they added to that tally in 2019. They have no recognizable names in their squad, mostly because all but 3 of their 23 man squad ply their trade in Bolivia. One name that might be familiar is Marcelo Martins, who had an unsuccessful loan at Wigan in 2010. He’s also turned out for Shakhtar Donetsk and Werder Bremen so is one of the few players with experience in a quality league. Expect Bolivia to be out in the group stage once again.

Venezuela - 40/1 To Win

Manager - Rafael Dudamel
Star Player - Salomon Rondon
World Ranking - 29th
Best Copa America Performance - Fourth Place (2011)

Summary

Going forward, Venezuela have two in form strikers but it will be their defence that worries them. Salomon Rondon and Josef Martinez will be leading the line for Venezuela this summer, after scoring 21 goals contributing 9 assists in their last 41 matches combined. Rondon recently became Venezuela's all time top scorer against the USA and will surely be hoping to add to his tally at the Copa America. As you move back through the squad, there are plenty of players with international experience. All but six of the team have featured more than 10 times for their country, with only one uncapped player picked by Rafael Dudamel. Venezuela will likely be battling it out with Peru for the second spot behind Brazil in Group A.

Peru - 25/1 To Win

Manager - Ricardo Gareca
Star Player - Paolo Guerrero
World Ranking - 21st
Best Copa America Performance - Winners (1939, 1975)

Summary

After their first World Cup appearance in 36 years in 2018, Peru come into the Copa America as one of the underdogs of the whole tournament. Peru have one of the older squads of the tournament and will be led by 35 year old Paolo Guerrero and 34 year old Jefferson Farfan. Behind them are Andre Carillo, Christian Cueva and Edison Flores, who all impressed during last summer’s World Cup. Overall, it’s a very similar squad to the one they took to Russia. Then, they were narrowly beaten by both France and Denmark, before a comfortable 2-0 win against Australia. Assuming that Bolivia will be the whipping boys of Group A, Peru’s game against Venezuela could be vital. The two meet on the 15th June in a match that will likely decide who finishes second in the group.
