Champions League Round Of 16 Treble
After dramatic comebacks in last week’s Champions League ties, teams might be a bit more wary heading into this weeks games. There are 2 potential comebacks on the cards for Juventus and Schalke. After Manchester United’s and Ajax’s performance, it’s hard to rule anything out. Elsewhere, there are 2 ties that currently sit at 0-0. A goalless first leg often makes it very tough to predict how the next line will go, with one goal potentially changing the tie completely. Bet UK have taken a look at 3 of the fixtures and picked out 3 tips for a 33/1* Champions League treble.
Juventus win and over 2.5 Goals v Atletico Madrid - 9/5*
Despite Juventus coming into the second leg 2-0 down, you can’t rule the Italians out. The Old Lady disappointed in Madrid but with Cristiano Ronaldo leading the line the comeback is still very much on. With Real Madrid, Ronaldo dominated the Champions League and it’s a huge reason why Juventus wanted to bring him to Turin. Especially when facing his old rivals in Atletico, we expect Ronaldo to turn up the intensity and prove that he can still carry his side through Europe’s top competition. While Atletico have impressed in the Champions League in recent years, an away draw against Brugge and loss against Dortmund prove that they might struggle away from home. With Juventus needing 3 goals to go through, this could be the game to watch on Tuesday night.
Robert Lewandowski to score first v Liverpool - 13/5*
After a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the first leg, this tie is still wide open. The first goal will prove vital - if Bayern get it, then the onus is on Liverpool, but if the away side grab a goal, then Bayern might start to panic. With such importance put on the opener, I think Bayern will attack from the first whistle. If that’s the case, then Robert Lewandowski will be most likely to grab the goal. The Polish striker isn’t enjoying his most prolific season but has still scored 26 goals this season, which shows just what he is capable of. 8 of those goals have came in the Champions League and with Ronaldo no longer dominating the goalscoring charts, Lewandowski might use this as extra motivation.
Barcelona to win by 2 goals v Lyon - 49/20*
Even though these sides drew 0-0 in Lyon, Barcelona will be expecting to win the return leg quite easily. Lyon did impress against Manchester City both home and away, but a Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona side at the Nou Camp is a completely different affair. This season, Messi has continued to drag his side through some average performances with 34 goals in all competitions already. In the Champions League, they are unbeaten and have conceded just 5 goals in 7 games, scoring 14 in the process. In Lyon, Barcelona had 25 shots without a goal so it’s clear that on a different day they could have won. At home, I expect a similar performance, but this time, it will pay off with a couple of goals.
