Champions League Quarter Final Treble
The second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals get underway this week as the business end of the season draws closer. All of the ties remain in the balance with no more than 2 goals separating the sides in every tie. Ahead of this week’s games, Bet UK have taken a look at 3 different betting tips across 3 games. For the latest Champions League betting odds, head over to Bet UK’s online sportsbook. We also have football betting odds for all major European competitions including the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.
There’s no disguising the fact that Lionel Messi has carried Barcelona through some performances this season. When the Catalans have needed Messi, he has stepped up and performed and his career shows no signs of slowing down just yet. In the Champions League second leg, expect Barcelona to once again look to their talisman for some inspiration. In Europe this season, Messi averages 2.7 shots on target in total per game, which increase to 3 shots per game when just looking at games at the Camp Nou. If Man United’s game against PSG is anything to go by, then expect Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to ask his side to sit back and soak up the pressure. That might work against PSG, but against Barcelona, Messi will surely try and make them pay.
When it comes to european football, Liverpool seem to step it up to another level. This is the second time in two years that Liverpool will be heading to Estadio do Dragao after winning 5-0 there last season. If anything, Liverpool are a better side this season and come into the game on better form so it could be a repeat this year. In their last away match, Liverpool beat Bayern Munich 3-1 and it looked like it could have been more. They took advantage of Bayern’s constant attacking and hit them on the break, which will be the same approach Porto takes this time out. They are already 2-0 down and will need an early goal to change the tie. If Liverpool can counter as well as they have done recently, then outscoring Porto shouldn’t be an issue.
Man City were disappointing in their 1-0 loss in the first leg, and they might have fallen victim to the occasion as Spurs played the first European match at their new stadium. At the Etihad however, City are a different beast. In just four games at home in Europe this season, City have scored 16 goals, including a remarkable seven goal haul against Schalke. Even across all competitions, City average over 3.5 goals per game. In the second leg, they will be looking to kill the game as soon as possible. Without Harry Kane, one of Spurs’ main attacking threats is gone and it remains to be seen how aggressive they will be on the attack. Regardless of Tottenham’s approach, expect City to dominate the game and grab at least the 2 goals that they need to go through to the semi’s.
