Bet UK’s Champions League Treble
The Champions League is back for another year as 32 teams fight it out to make the final in Istanbul next May. There are 4 English teams to look out for, including Chelsea’s return to Europe’s premier competition after a season in the Europa League. There are a couple of groups to look out for before we get to the knockout stages. Group F with Dortmund, Barcelona, Inter and Slavia Prague looks like the clear group of death, whereas Real Madrid and PSG will face each other again in Group A.
Barcelona head to Dortmund on Tuesday night in what is arguably the tie of the opening round in the Champions League. In the last couple of years, you would find it hard to argue that Dortmund could be considered favourites here but this year, things aren’t perfect in Catalonia. At home it has been business as usual, with a couple of 5-2 wins, but Barcelona are yet to win away from home. Lionel Messi will be back against Dortmund, but if he’s not fully fit, will that do more harm than good? On the other hand, Dortmund have enjoyed an explosive start to the season. Despite a poor defeat at Union Berlin, Dortmund have still scored 13 in 4 games, including 9 in 2 at home. Their front three of Reus, Alcacer and Sancho have already scored 3 times or more each, with Sancho also picking up 6 assists. With such an impressive forward line, we’ve gone for Dortmund -0.5 in our Asian Handicap market.
At Chelsea, Frank Lampard has already developed one of the youngest and most exciting teams in England. This will be his first look at European football, but with such a focus on attacking football, it’s difficult not to envision more goals. In 5 Premier League games this season, Chelsea have scored 11 goals and conceded 11, and are yet to keep a clean sheet. Valencia have hardly started the season with a stellar defensive record either. With one clean sheet under their belt out of 4, Valencia head to Stamford Bridge on the back of conceding 5 at the Nou Camp on Saturday. With both teams having shoddy defences, we’ve gone for over 3.5 goals at 2/1 at Bet UK.
Bayern Munich have arguably one of the easiest starts in the Champions League this week as they host Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night. Last season, Red Star impressed at home, but they consistently struggled away. In their 3 away group games in the 2018/19 season, they conceded 13 goals and we should expect that to continue at Bayern. Bayern have already scored 8 goals in 2 games at the Allianz Arena and Robert Lewandowski is enjoying his start to the season with 6 goals. Bayern aren’t the force they were a few years ago, but they still have quality around the pitch and should run riot against Red Star. We’ve gone for over 4.5 goals at 11/5 with Bet UK’s online betting.
