Robert Lewandowski - 1/5 To Be Bundesliga Top Scorer

Club - Bayern Munich

Goals Scored - 25

Games Played - 23

Even though there are still 9 games left to play in the Bundesliga, Robert Lewandowski looks almost a dead cert to be the top scorer in the Bundesliga. Lewandowski has been the league's top scorer in 4 of the last 6 seasons and will surely extend his dominance this season. Lewandowski started the season on an incredible 11 match scoring streak, which bagged him 16 goals before anyone else even got a chance to get close to him.

The highlight of his season comes in that incredible start, a hattrick away to Schalke. Lewandowski has actually scored more than once in 6 games this season, which obviously helps his record of over a goal a game. A shinbone injury sustained just before the enforced break might be cause for concern when the Bundesliga returns. But, as long as he stays healthy, he should finish as top scorer.

Timo Werner - 3/1 To Be Bundesliga Top Scorer

Club - RB Leipzig

Goals Scored - 21

Games Played - 25

Robert Lewandowski’s closest competitor is Timo Werner of RB Leipzig. The 19/20 season has been Werner’s best of his career so far, already scoring 27 goals in all competitions. His scoring has been less consistent than the likes of Lewandowski, but when Werner hits form, there are few players who can match his goal scoring exploits. In a game against Mainz in November, Werner scored a hattrick and had 3 assists in an incredible 8-0 win. That game started a run of 11 goals in 7 games.

Werner has been rumoured with a move almost every year he has been in Leipzig, but this summer looks like it could be his last in Germany. Liverpool look like the perfect destination for the striker. He could be a perfect replacement for Roberto Firmino, who may offer creativity, but has never been a prolific scorer. If Werner finishes this season strongly, expect even more rumours linking him with a Premier League move.

Jadon Sancho - 100/1 To Be Bundesliga Top Scorer

Club - Borussia Dortmund

Goals Scored - 14

Games Played - 23

Just like Timo Werner, Jadon Sancho has constantly been linked with a move to the Premier League, ever since leaving Manchester City back in 2017. Manchester United look like his preferred destination back in England, and it’s clear to see why he is one of the most sought after players in Europe. At just 20 years old, Sancho has already set countless Bundesliga records. Last year, he became the youngest player to score over 10 Bundesliga goals in a season. This year, he has taken his game to another level and already surpassed last year’s stats.

His 14 goals look even more impressive when you take into account the 15 assists he has also provided to his teammates. With 29 goal involvements, that means Sancho has been directly involved in 42% of Dortmund’s Bundesliga goals. With Erling Haaland joining him, he might take off some of the goalscoring pressure from Sancho. But, if Sancho can play slightly more selfishly, he could easily reach 20 goals this season.

Outside Shouts For Bundesliga Top Scorer

Robin Quasion

Club - Mainz

Goals Scored - 12

Games Played - 24

A name that won’t be familiar to most football fans is Robin Quasion. The Sweden international has never scored more than 7 goals in the top flight before, but has hit impressive form with Mainz this year. He currently sits at 12 goals, over a third of Mainz overall total. He is still not a prolific scorer and seems to score in bulk rather than spreading them out. He’s already scored 2 hat tricks this season, despite never scoring one in his career previously. Although we are unlikely to hear about Quasion past this season, it will be worth watching his end to the season and see if his purple patch continues.

Serge Gnabry

Club - Bayern Munich

Goals Scored - 11

Games Played - 23

A name that will be much more familiar to English football fans is Serge Gnabry. The German’s career has gone from strength to strength since leaving Arsenal in 2016. He has become one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting wingers and is a guaranteed starter for Bayern Munich. We were all given a taste of his talent during a Champions League game against Tottenham, in which he scored 4 goals in a 7-2 win. His league form hasn’t been quite as electric, but he is still the second top scorer for Bayern Munich. If Lewandowski can’t return from injury, Gnabry will pick up the goalscoring duties.

Marco Reus

Club - Borussia Dortmund

Goals Scored - 11

Games Played - 19

When healthy, Marco Reus is undoubtedly one of the most naturally gifted players in the world. Although he has suffered an injury plagued career, this season we have seen what a healthy Reus is capable of. In just 19 games, Reus has scored 11 goals, although another injury has set him back. A muscle injury ruled him out for 5 games, but he should be back for the return of the Bundesliga. Reus might not push for the top scorer this year, but as long as he stays fit, he is a must watch player.
